Perhaps the next step in SL society as well as a government of some sort is to create regions in Second Life. Mature settings are clearly distinct from PG settings. Snow sims are clearly different from tropical sims. Neighborhoods are trying to govern themselves but without any recognition for doing so. I hope we can start a discussion here about potential regionalism in Second Life.

Furthermore, I think to benefit people making their own sims and whatnot, who perhaps would like to create a society of their own kind, new currencies need to be established. This would not devalue the Linden because there are always exchange rates; however, it would create a new sense of alternate societies and introduce new (realistic) boundaries in Second Life. Maybe a new grid would be necessary for this to come into play, but I'm just offering this idea up for discussion.

I say wait until the Grid is 5 times it's current size. Then it will be large enough for 'localization' to occur.

currently there are about 180 continental sims and if you examin the Linden right-of-ways you can predict where new sims will be going. In the Snow sim block there are likely to be another 15->20 sims for sure and up in the north east there are going to be about 40 -> 60 sims. Future directions of expantion cannot be determined at this time. Most likely there will be no expantion out west except for private islands.

Currently about 20 sims are released a month. SL has a long way to go if it is to quadrupal in size. I can't wait for them to connect up all the roads.
