I believe that the amount of time people spend on their Second Life warrants a reminder for us to get up and stretch every now and then. The immersive nature of Second Life draws us into deep conversation and exploration. I'm not even gonna get started on the hours on end people spend building and coding.

Our health is at risk, it may be the slightest bit, but it's undeniable that SL is addictive. The blood circulation in our hands and asses don't flow well after sitting at a computer for long periods of time. Our eyes also need to rest. SO, I suggest a simple and non-intrusive reminder to inform users to take a break after X hours of active use.

An "Ergonomics Tip" pop up of some sort with a "Next Tip" and "Close" button.

I do think that the immersive nature of SL is unlike many computer tasks but is not significantly more so than many computer games.

I have been vocationally using computers for about 20 years and as an amateur (read overzeaolus kid) for 5 years prior to that. In that time I had suffered no vision loss or RSI partly through good ergonomics and discipline. It wasn't until my "addiction" to SL that I started feeling the twinges of mouseitis and switched to a trackball (which I highly recommend on sheer ergonomic grounds). If I had an incipient problem this seems to have averted it.

Again, there is nothing special about SL in this circumstance, nor do I blame the product or its maker for my poor choice of habits.

However I did want to pass on my experience as a cautionary tale as provoked by the first poster. I have known a number of colleagues in my industry to have been permanently injured by poor usage habits (which I was formerly somewhat skeptical of). Treat your body well, you can change AVs as often as you like, but RL hands and arms are not re-rendered a few times a second

I have to agree with this. Healthy customers are paying customers. Should be customizable via prefrances should have it's own tab.

Some people I know stay logged in so long I worry about them getting blood clots. This is an excellent public service reminder.
