It's summer time ~ which means my kids will be around more ... and this brings me to my feature request -

We NEED a way to mute avatar sounds! This has been discussed and actually I posted about long ago - but the sounds are not just gross now - they are obscene. Porn movie clips etc.... rather than annoying as hell laughing and other body functions. The porn is something I DO NOT NEED and DO NOT WANT played on my computer -

Naked avies are one thing - they are pixels - barbies of a sort - and while I dont purposely display naked or topless avies for my children to wander past and see - if they happen to glimpse - its not a big deal really and I can manage to avoid having them in cam view if in a club. But the porn .. is actual people and if my kids are even watching tv across the room - the wavs play loud and clear and i have to race to mute my computer.

To be honest, I really find it irresponsible on the part of SL that they do not have the option to mute these. This feature needs to be implemented immediately.

You could turn off sound entirely or use headphones....
Not the solution you're looking for I know.
I think we need various "mutes":
Gestures
Objects
Parcel Music
Sounds (i.e. typing)

I still want an option to mute a specific avatar's sounds, since a couple friends and I use a lot of various wolf howl gestures during RP and to greet each other, but I also want to be able to mute sound and gesture spammers without blocking sounds from my friends.

Expansion of the mute feature would be grand.

Pretty much the same proposal in 4 different places...

Can we have the search button enlarged in proposal voting??

I did a search and found it was spread over different proposals - personally - I think this is not a "voting issue" I think this is offensive and inappropriate -

It is fairly easy to avoid looking at someone if I choose - To have to mute ALL my sounds .. and by the way the stop music control does not do it - you have to open your preferences etc to get to the system control slider - believe me, I tried muting the music and succeeded in making the wav play even more clearly ~ infringes on MY enjoyment of SL.

I should not have to mute my entire computer to stop my children from hearing one person out of 40 playing porn wavs. That is what happens because you can't open the preferences etc quick enough to block it. If the music stream button stopped it - that would be something at least.

I am no prude ~ believe me, but I feel this is a significant problem. Have you heard some of the porn clips people play?

edit to add : I want to be clear that I am not asking for the removal of these types of wavs. I simply want to be able to have the choice of not having wav files play. Perhaps unlinking system sounds from the media stream would be a possible solution. It must be possible because you can choose to not play the media and still hear the system sounds - so why can't it be reversed as well?

I have done my own little sound muting system. Every 2 minutes a script replaces all annoying sounds with 0 bytes sized files in the client's cache and makes them write-protected. The client can not overwrite them and will dutifully play ... silence ...

You need to find out the keys for the offending sounds and place a key.dsf file in the cache ;)
