I think that it would be both appropriate and fun if when you die in sl you were reincarnated in either heaven or hell. When I was thrown form Mt. G'al I was most disappoointed to find myself at home afterwards. I expected more from the afterlife than that.

Many people do not believe in either of those two places. Some believe in completely different forms of after life, and some believe completely different (might be hard to explain sometimes)

Teleporting home is probably the safest solution for LL to have which won't anger users.

...be not proud, though some have called thee/
Mighty and dreadfull, for, thou art not so,/
For, those, whom thou think'st, thou dost overthrow,/
Die not, poore death, nor yet canst thou kill me.

While I say a big NO to this idea, I agree with a possibility of an LLWhenDead(string simname, vector location); (Or the equlivilant), so upon death, if you are the owner of the object (as to avoid griefing) you are teleported to the sim in the code and the location in the sim. This can be used to make heaven and hell attachments.

I'd like to see more options than 'teleport home', like 'warp back to nearest telehub'.

What about non-Judeo-Christian deaths?

Can Buddhists resurrect to a random AV, including animals, in a random part of SL?

Can Athiests have their account deleted? hehehe j/k

Can Agnostics go to limbo?

Can $cientologists go to a a cult rehabilitation center? *rimshot!*

...

I can't help but think of the back-end sewer system where little daemons come and clean up pieces of a killed AV and there is a delay as they return them to the home point.

Whatever the religion, God bless Neal Stephenson, hehehe

Hiro's entirely right. Let's not bring individual religions into this. It would be asking for major problems, as so many have discovered in 1L to their cost.

However, an open hook for something special to happen on death in gaming venues would be very welcome.

Players would have to confirm that they accept the conditions of death on entry to any place that imposes a penalty of course, and there would need to be a Prefs option where you could set a limit for duration cost and/or L$ cost of dying (default L$0). Venue operators could choose to accept or deny you entry if you do not meet the penalty requirements for their game.

You could use that island with heaven and hell as the plot if the scripting function was added.

I am actually all for "a teleport to nearest telehub on death" feature.

Should make PvP alot less frustrating.

Either that, or etleast being able to set a "Respawn" point on a parcel or script.

Oh, an LSL event! Would be great to be able to die on the door to get into a zombie-themed nightclub, or to simulate tranquiliser darts (get knocked out, wake up in a different location), or .. any number of things.

I can imagine some people setting up personal scripts to IM their friends: "If you are reading this, then I am already dead..." and so on.

I thought this was going to be a thread on better death notifications of RL users...

While ryens death function *sounds* like a good idea lets think about how we could abuse it. Say you want to tp to club in Uba but don't want to fly there from the telehub. So you set your death attachment with it's location and locate a suicide booth and kill your self. (Ever wonder where the bodies in Futurama's suicide booth went?)

So I fully support this function. ('Death methods: Seppuku, Drowning, Shoe', "I'll try shoe this time";) Anyway i'm told there is a hack so you can set your home to anywhere...

Really, the best thing for everyone is that upon death they begin ghosting. Then they seek out Whoopie Goldberg.

But first, the Lindens have to make Whoopie. As we all know, making whoopie transcends religion so my plan is completely infallible.

If you agree, say "ditto."

A most emphatic and amused "ditto"!

Not so much Righteous Brothers though, I hope?
