I wish there could be an option so that you could rate back the person who rated you instead of having a hard time searching everywhere in the crowds. Maybe a blue box that appears and gives you an option to Rate Back...sounds simple

The fact that we have to search the crowd for an anonymous rater is a symptom of rating abuse. I hope that LL doesn't make it easier to stand around and blindly rate each other.

I actually have to agree with Postmark here. The fact that someone rated you, shouldn't be grounds to rate them back IMHO.

If you don't know who or where they are, you probably shouldn't be rating them in the first place. I'm with Postmark and Pete on this one...

I hear what you are saying...but i am just saying for alot of us who like to rate back that it would be nice to have an "Option" to rate back.

I support this, because it would discourage people from doing fly-by neg ratings.

If not a rate-back, then perhaps a sort of "zoom-in" or "auto-focus" to focus on the last person who rated you. I often get ratings with some really swell comments, all detailed and awesome, and I wanna see who did it. It's hard to do this within some clubs with all the names floating around -- and turning off the names, of course, clears the air but makes it that much harder to find out who's who if you've never met him/her/it/robotX before.

If you don't know who or where they are, you probably shouldn't be rating them in the first place. I'm with Postmark and Pete on this one... - Ace If someone is nice enough to rate my appearance/building/behavior, I figure that is at least worth a behavior rate back. It is tough to know if the rate was "real" or just fishing for a rate back, but that is the game. I would like to have this feature, thanks Ciccio. _____________________

Rate Back Would Be Highly Useful...
12-29-2004 04:10
Ok, you're at a party, there are 20 + avies dancing, chatting and having a good time. There's gonna be a nice bit of lag (What? Lag at a party? Naaah), too.
So, you say something witty, and someone across the room takes the time to snag your name and rate you, commenting upon your witticism. Ok, they're funny too, and you'd like to return the favor and props with a rate back. Oh, NO, you're lagged and they're behind a column of particles and lighting effects, you can't get your camera to move over to them such that you can click on them to rate them and let them know how you appreciate what they said. Why not use find? Lag. Why not walk over to them? Lag. Why not make it easier for folks to socialize? Hmmmm can't think of a good reason to hinder that. ![]() _____________________

Whenever someone rates me I get an email telling me so n so rated you. I know this doesn't help when you want to rate someone back within the same time period, However it is helpfull.
I have been rated positively by some people I've met along the way and was nice of them to do so. What I was wondering though is, How can a person rate you with the "Building" aspect if they've never seen what you built ? IMHO I feel to give a negitive rating should be a justified reason, must be an explaination as to why it was given. I received a negitive rating from someone I've never met and was offline at the time he did it. However I did receive the email telling me whom he was. A rate back option would be kinda cool though. ![]() |

Brand New Rating System
12-29-2004 23:02
So, erm, i ll try to be as clear as possible, i hope you will follow =D
Ratings should be separated into two distinctive categories: Social Indicator and Skills Indicator. The SOCIAL INDICATORS would be rated ON THE AVATAR itself, as we actually do, but it would open the following window -------------------------------------- ------BEHAVIOR -* Behavior *----------000 0 000 ------APPEARANCE -* Body Parts *--------000 0 000 -* Clothings *----------000 0 000 -* Attachements *-----000 0 000 -------------------------------------- The scale i use goes from -3 to +3, 0 (zero) is the middle basic state. One point costs One Linden. The Social Indicator would still be used for Weekly Stipend, and would appear in the Leader Boards. The SKILLS INDICATORS would be rated ON PRIMS OR OBJECTS only, the two options would be RATE OWNER, in which case you would go to SOCIAL INDICATORS of the Owner and RATE CREATOR, which would open the following window -------------------------------------- ------SKILLS -* Building *-----------000 0 000----name of builder---------/PROFILE/button -* Scripting *----------000 0 000----name of scriptor--------/PROFILE/button -* Texturing *----------000 0 000----name of texturer-------/PROFILE/button -* Animating *---------000 0 000----name of animator------/PROFILE/button -* Sounding *----------000 0 000----name of soundman----/PROFILE/button --------------------------------------- The scale i use goes from -3 to +3, 0 (zero) is the middle basic state. One point costs One Linden. The Skill Indicator would NOT be used for Weekly Stipend, and would appear in the Leader Boards. The Object or Prim would know who made it s sound texture shape sounds and anims and would show the respective creators on the rating menu. Each time you would, your avatar or an object of yours, get rated, instead of a cheap menu vanishing as fast as a bullet so you cant even read the comment without having to open history, it would open a UP RIGHT CORNER MENU BUTTON and would say: "*nameoftheratingavatar* has rated your Behavior +1 Clothings +3 Body Parts +2" and would show two buttons: /OK/ and /RATE BACK/, where you could be a polite avatar and give for example ONE point of Behavior. That s about it, how does that sound to you ? |

I hereby endorse this produt and/or service.
It should also work on offline rates. _____________________

my solution is to pan my view back and swing it around to face the crowd. that way i can mouse over bodies til i find who i'm looking for. i'm usually set that way for an event anyway so that i can see what's going on.
another option at bingo is to mouse over and id/rate the cards. just be sure to rate the owner, not the creator. this feature might or might not discourage flyby rating. a flybyer will most likely not care less how many ratings they accumulate. i suppose that could be a game. i have a lower neg ratio than you do. ha ha ha _____________________

I'm all for a better method to rate back!
Face it, people who play the rating game will.. period. I can't list the number of instances where I couldn't find someone to return a rating. This happens a lot in events (especially bingo for me LOL), dances, shopping.. In bingo, it is sometimes difficult to get a good view set up. So, frankly, we don't want to fight with the camera to find someone. I know I have had several instances of this. We will all be chatting together during an event, someone rates and even tho we are chatting.. it is difficult to find them. LOL What annoys me is the rate button on profiles being unavailable. Why even have it?? If I can't spot someone in a crowd to rate them after either being rated or from wanting to rate from the conversation going on.. well.. I go to the profile.. never fails.. the button is there, but can't be used. HUMPH. |
