Uploading Files and Organization

I upload about 150 to 200 images a month. I am a tad obsessive with my organization of those images; I have about 20 folders in my textures folder, with a number of subfolders in each of those. I am also embarrassingly lazy, and I normally don’t get around to putting my textures “away” for about 6 weeks.

Is there anyway to add to the uploading process the ability to tell the interface where I would like the file to be stored?

Or perhaps this functionality already exists and I just don’t know about it?

(edit)
Oh dear, such the WRONG forum, can someone take pitty on me and move this to the correct one?

while I don't uplaod near that many I too would like the ability to specify where the textures are saved when they are uploaded. I tend to upload pictures in groups that would go in the same folder anyways so a feature like this would be way handy!

Definately sounds like a feature I would be interested in to. Perhaps even extended to the items you 'take' into your inventory- an option to let you tell it to go somewhere specific, other than 'objects'.

Wow! What a TIME SAVER THAT would be!!! OMG ...to be able to 'choose' which folder it goes into to BEGIN with! :D

I have to totally agree! I've very recently started uploading a LOT of textures. And this feature would help a GREAT deal! Good Call Totally!

The ability to put things away where you want them right off the bat would save me lot's of time that I currently spend dinking with my inventory. Seems to grow out of control, especially the objects and lost and found folders. It would be very nice indeed to have the ability to put these items where you want them right off the bat rather than make time to organize the dreaded inventory nightmare most of us face.

Some may point to the fact that you can choose a directory FROM which you upload, so why not a TO as well? Or, with Bulk Upload, uploading folders of textures into folders of their own in inventory? Now, I don't know how hard this is to actually do... but it sounds nifty.

For the here and now, I get a lot of miscellanea I need to sort out later. So for that schtuff, I put it in a "Docking Bay"-type folder. Like in my Photos folder, I have a "Photostream" subfolder which I use to put recent snapshots by myself and sent to me by others I haven't sorted out yet.

And Theo--request granted, thread has been moved to Feature Suggestions as it doesn't exist yet! :)

remove file extension option

I would like an option to remove the file extension (.jpg, .wav, .bvh, etc). I hate having to manually remove them all the time! And get rid of the unnecessarily redundant ";(No Description)" text in the, duh, description field. It's obvious there's no description if the damn field is blank!

Oh yeh, being able to specify "this folder is my textures folder now" would be great.

For snapshots, too.

Oh, while I'm wishing, when you drag the whole contents folder out of an object... how about creating a folder of the same name as the object where you drag it to in your inventory?
