Maybe I need to adjust the dosage on my meds (or start taking them even), but I keep thinking that it would be useful to have a mode in the edit tool that uses polar coordinates.
Almost any interesting build I make has some sort of rotational symmetry, and the way I build I'm always duplicating a prim or object, linking to a hub, rotating the hub to rotate/position the duplicate, then unlinking. Repeat as necessary.
It would be so much nicer to have a polar mode so that I can shift-drag to copy/move into the new position, but instead of X/Y/Z directions, there would be R/Theta/Inclination. What is the origin? A reference object.
OK, this might totally suck. And I'd rather they fixed the existing problems with the edit tools. But still, I can't stop thinking about how cool this might be...

This sounds remarkibly like what my Prim Mirror Script will do, if I follow your logic correctly. It'll mirror a prim (then mirror back) with direct relation to a reference object. Naturally, people were upset that this might be used to copy stuff, so I quickly rolled out this as well. Actually reminds me to append the scripts to make them work again, now that people have protection from copy by numbers for their modifiable wares.

It'll mirror a prim (then mirror back) with direct relation to a reference object. Your Prim Mirror script would probably work fine, but it is a lot more work to use than the process I use, if only because my process is interactive and the script is based on typing in the right numbers and running it. If I have to reflect the construction of an object, I'm sure your mirror script is a big timesaver, but for this it seems like it would take more work. I like direct manipulation, especially for SL building as the way I build involves a lot of experimentation and tweaking.
