ll really must plan to ipl the grid every two weeks or so. every thing run so much more smoothly and quickly afterward. just schedule a time every two weeks to inconvenience us for an hour. you can always take the opportunity to tweak stuff or issue a client dist; and you'll get far fewer complaints about lag, ghosts, teleport issues et cetera ete cetera.

I agree. It is important to have the world accessible as often as possible, but, I think people would welcome a regular schedule of downtime in order to improve overall performance.

I agree, too.
Another benefit: Those with outside servers for use with email- and XML-RPC could use the same time slot for their maintenance schedule, to avoid unnecessary breakage of in-world objects that depend on the server.
Although, I honestly think a weekly scheduled maintenance period would be even more beneficial. But only if it's in EXACTLY THE SAME time-slot every week (or however often.)
