Jebus Linden!
I'm so tired of linking objects to a parent object that has NEVER been rotated, and winding up with complex angles of 359.999. 89.992. 0.001 and can NEVER get them to resolve to the parent objects LACK of rotation of 0.00, 0.00, 0.00. People bitch about linked object migration all the time, fix it! I'm not even talking about scripted objects, I'm talking of a simple couch!
I love to build, have been told I'm rather decent at it, but fer Lindens Sake! Fix the linking issues! I'm not talking rocket science, perhaps if I was, you'd get it right! I'm tired of attempting to link multiple modifed objects to a native parent, that is basically untouched, and having to use Trigonometry to make it look right.
Example: I made a couch, 3 cushions, each cushion is 3 prims, one cube, and two cylinders cut 50%(makes the edges round) I started by linking the cushion (The cube, unrotated, as the parent) Then copied the cushion 3 times (A three cushion couch) I did the Legs and arms, stretchers between the legs, then linked the whole thing to the center cushion, that had never been rotated. I rezzed it and it looks like something ALF would use for an upper GI. It looks perfect in the shift-copy forms I did, but to rez it, Jebus! it comes out at all sorts of funky angles.

Similar things have happened to me. I was trying to build a vehicle once and when I linked it pieces rotated by up to 30 degrees. 30 degrees!!! I unlinked it and they rotated back about 15. Then it took forever to get the pieces straightened out again. Finally, I gave up and went and made scripts instead.

Great to hear about new building bugs! I wonder if this is related to the "shift-drag" bug I had before...

I have just moved Planet Rainbow from its sim-straddling-but-won't-make-the-leaderboard position to its now-only-on-one-sim-which-will-lag-more-but-can-at-least-make-dwell-board position. It took an hour to move it. It took three hours to go fix all the damn rotation bugs.
<ARRGGGGGHHHHHHH>
That's betetr.

Hey stop complaining man....in the old days of SL to do the same thing it would take..... wait ..nevermind. (Shameless bump for building bug fixes...of course this should be in the tech forum or something.)

I completely second this!, during this build of second life, ive found building to be too impossible, and have decided to quit building until the problem is fixed, _Please_ dont muck up the building aspects of second life, its all we have!

I endorse this.
And I also endorse that Jebus Linden be made a real name.

I'm on av rebuild #6.
I wonder how seriously they take this problem though. It's a pretty damn serious problem.
