Dear Linden Lab, I'm sure a lot of people are concerned with account security. I am too. There's something that I should have pointed out much much earlier but kept forgetting to do so. Our login username is our in-world name and not a username that has no connection to that in-world name. This is the first MMOG I've been to where the username IS the in-world name. I'm proposing a shift for added security. You see at the moment one only needs to crack the password since someone can already get the username of a specific person ... it's his in-world name. At some time in the future can we tie our accounts to a name we provide ourselves that is not visible in-world?

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I've also thought of this idea, but for a different reason -- to bring alts under control.
Like WoW, we all have a login name only we know, and all our in-world AVs are listed under that login. Maybe a max of 5 without Lindens setting it higher on a per-case business (like Anshe's land business comes to mind).

I thought about that when I started too, that my avatar name was my account name, and thought it was not very secure.
This is a good idea, and should be implemented asap.
