An IM log would be sweet... I know that a main chat log would be too vast, maybe a limit size on that, but an IM chat log system would be great. Any other oppinions?

I agree Chance. To have to go through the general chat log to find my IM log is a great burden. I also hate it when I crash and I lose all of the IMs for a particular session, especially if discussing business.

LL isnt keen on allowing logging because of privacy issues. This has been suggested many times before. I would like it myself. After all, it is only the standard for every single IM proggy I know. Maybe they could just leave it off by default. I dunno.

Eggy,
But what is to stop us from making Notecards and cut & pasting the conversations?
I don't see how someone logging their own conversations as breaking any privacy. Now if LL logged it on their servers rather than each person's self computer, that would be breaking privacy. As long as it logs to person A's and person B's Second Life\logs folder, then there is no actual invasion of privacy.
All it would do is save those of us that manually log our conversations the trouble.

problem with copy and paste to a notecard is that sometimes, even that isn't enough. so, i fully endorse the idea of a chat log. i remember certain incidents several months ago against several groups that would have been resolved much faster with the aid of a chat log.

They have the power to monitor everything you are saying even in "private" IMs. Heck, a friend of mine was even suspended for telling me something in IMs and giving me a notecard about someone. Big Brother is watching you.
