Why cant we ban people through a script? No, really, why on earth cant we ban people through a script???
Shouldnt that take all of 5 minutes to implement?
LL, please implement an LSL command for banning people from the current plot of land, whether it be by name or key, it doesnt matter. Thank you.

I endorse this product and or service. Especially since we have the llAddToLandPassList(key agent, float hours) function which I don't honestly think I've ever seen used... why dont we have the opposite, which by contrast would be popular?

i think it would be popular. i've never banned anybody come to think of it. i can see far reaching uses though. if someone wins to much money from a casino, poof, banned for a day. that's what real casinos do.

if someone rezzed more than say one-hundred prims in offshore sim, poof, they're banned til the owner manually takes them off the list.

is this the kind of thing y'all are talking about? oh nm. you both know what your talking about so i'll just stamp a big green thumbprint on it for endorsement.

I'd like to see this function. It's important for scripted security systems that allow group members to eject/ban griefers from group land.

As it stands now, you have to actively scan the area for "banned" people you have on an internal list, and continually eject them. Which wastes server resources.

I think the reason it's hard to implement is because they also want it to work for full sims which might be parceled.

Actually that wouldnt be what I want - as a sim owner, I'd want it to work on a parcel by parcel basis like the access list function does.

Yup, as the main developer for a private sim grid, thats what my client wishes as well.

How would this work, then?

Good idea but WHY?! Are you so lazy as to not be able to click on your land, go to ban, and type a name :P?

Members of groups can't do that. Only officers can.

Perhaps, if the object had the correct permissions (it has to be on its owner's land or be owned by a member of a group who owns the land), it should add the person to the ban list of the parcel the object is over.

If somone really wished an object had control over multiple parcels, they could have the object traverse over the sim setting all the parcel's ban lists.

Because I'm not logged in 24 hours a day, the list is limited to 50 people at a time, and I could, if I were so inclined, use RPC to write some rather advanced AI and/or interfaces to allow specific people to manage the ban list or let the system make the decision itself.

I've used llAddToLandPassList in my current cabin rental script, but I would like to add to this request some additional functions:

llLandAvatarListRestrict(boolean switch)
llLandGroupRestrict(boolean switch)
llGetLandPassList(list avatars)
llRemoveFromLandPassList(key agent)

Note that last one is not the same as adding to a ban list!

What I have to do is restrict my land to an avatar list, and then the script will add the renter to the pass list when they pay the rent. (They can then, during their stay, add others to the list - important for honeymooners!). When the time is up, the pass list becomes empty again.

However, what I'd like is for the land to be completely open when unrented, and switch to restriction by avatar list on being rented. I would also like to be able to get the list of avatars via a function rather than rely on maintaining an array in the script. (I guess the option for the renter to boot out their honeymoon companion is a little pessimistic of me!)

While we're at it, how about functions to switch on and off the various options under the land Option tab? I'd like to have creation off while the land is open, but on when rented.

llLandCreateObjects(boolean switch)
llLandEdit(boolean switch)
llLandMakeLandmark(boolean switch)

etc.

I think an llGetLandFlags() and llSetLandFlags(integer flags) would be more appropriate.
Then you could do as usual:
if(flags & LAND_PERMISSION_BUILD) llRezObject(blah)

What we NEED is a way of identifying parcels by key. That way we could affect any parcel in a sim if we owned it.

I don't think that would be easy to implement, but I endorse it. And hereby bump this post :)

Do you have so few 1L obligations that you can afford to spend all your time on your land in SL?

Do you want to have to make the security staff of your Disney-like ConglomoCo officers of your corporation just so they can ban people from the land?

If someone's adding to your land's primitive allocation abusively, wouldn't you want to be able to stop it immediately instead of having to teleport back to your land?

Do you have so little desire to interact elsewhere in the world that you're willing to stay on your land ALL THE TIME?
