It would be nice if things could be typed on.

SL could keep a large variety of fonts on it's server, and users could simply type out
a message onto prims.

Would be great for a temp sign for a concert or even as a large card for someones
Birthday.

A scrolling message would be great too.

I think people make them in SL, but the cost is way too high for most.

xytext is an open source script that will put 6 letters on one prim.

There's also the proposal that would allow us to "bake" text onto the surface of a prim on top of whatever texture is already there.
