I was just discussing the issue of guns and push scripts to a few friends of mine and a reference I used to use (PASCAL, old but alot of newer programming languages use the same basic syntax).. Perhaps implimenting a way for land owners or avatars themselves to disable these malicious scripts in particular would be something nice. I don't think it'd take more than an if/and/or script or code that will disable all effects "if" a "weapon" is set to a certain velocity and/or aimed at and avatar and/or with intent to push without permission. Just a thought.

Myiasia -- hi and that is a good suggestion. Some of my friends have advocated before for a checkbox on one's About Land Options that would allow for the simple disabling of pushguns and similar devices. I'm not sure what the technical complications would be. You also currently know about sitting down on a solid (like, non-physical) surface to "lock you down" and prevent you from being pushed around, right? six

I know about the sitting thing, but I don't always sit. Oftentimes, I'm in sandboxes waaaay up in the sky working on my things where I can stand up and move around to view things in first-person.. and I don't really have the oprotunity to sit when I'm walking around and exploring in store areas and the likes. My point behind this is I don't particularly care for having to be all paranoid and sitting rather than being up and dancing when I want to. I'd rather not have to worry about all that crap and be able to do what I want without feeling like I'm living in a gang-ridden area. Peace is nice in the places that want it, take the wars where they're wanted and leave the peaceful to themselves, in other words. This isn't real life. Something can actually be done about it here.

Unfortunately, you can't reduce the power of push guns without hobbling a lot of other uses of the script commands they use. The best fix I've yet seen was an attachment that would "glue" you to the ground if you suddenly had a large force imparted on you.
Better still is to report inappropriate use of push-guns. Even though you may have seen the dialog "Joe Avatar bumped you, click here to report" only the first time someone innocently walked into you, the client still stores the information under Help->View PvP pushing (or something like that). You can see who shot you and send a quick report saying "I was minding my own business when I got shot...". Oneinfraction will likely not get the shooter in trouble, but he (and it is almost always a he) has probably made a habit of it. When a number of abuse reports pile up against "Joe", he'll likely get warned or suspended.
That is about the best we can do. Don't try to talk with a random shooter, *don't* shoot back, just report and move on. And believe me, I've pushed - so to speak - on this issue very hard and long; push-guns are likely here to stay.
Push-guns don't push people, attention seeking morons push-gun people.
