We've all done it, some more than others, but we've all had to go prim hunting when we go to position a prim via the ol cut and paste method and oops... you send your prim off somewhere out of your reach or off world.

Here's my idea...

In a future version of SL I would like to see a change to the build/edit tool with an out of the way button that brings up a sub control menu. This sub control menu would be called:
Prim Containment Zone

Here's how I think it should work. Under the sub control menu you would have an enable/disable checkbox or dropdown menu, a numeric entry text box, and an ok and apply button. Perhaps a -Z axis lock when you're standing on the ground too.

Now in the text box you would put in a number say 30, that would setup a "containment field" around your avatar. When building if you accidentally set a prim to go 300m that way (points over there) the prim would stop 30m from the avatar and an alert would popup saying your prim went somewhere and gives the coordinates.

An on screen button marked "Return Prims" would enable prims at the edge of the containment zone to be placed into a designated folder in the user's inventory.

Now until that is implemented... I'm off to find that object I sent somewhere. ^^

A simple, more elegant solution would just be a user-defined limit of maximum movement a prim can go in one movement.

Maybe even make it server-side.

Wait, no, don't make it server-side... that makes it harder to move builds across Linden rivers :)
