One thing that annoys me about the massive collection of attire, attachments and the such is that some items I am unable to make copies of so I have to know where things are kept for certain styles that are used.

For example, I have a shirt that is non-copyable and I use it for 6 different styles. I also have these pair of pants that are also non-copyable and is used in 4 flavor of styles. Now, some of these styles are mixed-n-matched so there's a lot of different stuff in different locations. This can get pretty confusing so here is my idea...

For the items that are non-copyable I would like to be able to create a "reference" to that item to copy into other folders I have created for my avatar to represent different styles I like to wear.

For example...

STYLE A
Cream Skin (NO-COPY)
Blue Shirt
Orange Pants
Sandals (NO-COPY)
Long Hairdo
Earings (NO-COPY)

STYLE B
Pale Skin
Camp Tanktop
Orange Pants
Ponytail Hairdo (NO-COPY)
Bracelets

In Style A there is a pair of sandals I want to also wear in Style B. Instead of sifting through folders I am proposing that we have the option to create a reference to a non-copyable item so Style B would end up like the following...

STYLE B
Pale Skin
Camp Tanktop
Orange Pants
Sandals (NO-COPY) (REFERENCE)
Ponytail Hairdo (NO-COPY)
Bracelets

Reference items cannot be dropped in-world. They are only wearable. When you no longer have the original item and try to wear the reference it prompts you of the missing items and remove those references automatically.

I know this might seem like a lazy idea but when you have a lot of styles you like to put together this becomes very helpful cause at times you just can't always remember where things were exactly or cannot recall the name of those cool pair of pants you have in the 200 pair of pants you own. lol

This has been multiply suggested under a variety of names: aliases, soft links, shortcuts, etc...

Yes, a thousand times yes. Though I don't think it should be restricted to clothes nor that it should only be usable for wearing. I want references to scripts in projects, to folders, to stuff that's copyable but I want to maintain a consistent set of attributes on even if it's in multiple folders...
