Tina means for users to offer customer support for other users, like the SLustler problem today and i agree oh right! well as long as no one is expecting customer support from LL themselves... and I dunno. I guess if it's just for announcements of your product being broken, fine. But if it's a two way thing people will just use it to slate products in a "zomgz <XYZ> from <ABC> doesnt work I wuz robbed! (and no I havent bothered to inform the creator or seek technical assistance before coming to the forums nor did I read the user manual)" kinda way. Anyhoo, don't people usually just use Notices and Well Wishes for that? Least ways, thats where threads about stuffs like that generally get moved to. _____________________

PetGirl,
The reason there is most likely not a customer support forum is for privacy reasons. Customer support often requires revealing account information, billing information, etc. There is already a technical support forum and an answers forum for more general questions - questions specific to your account are not suited for a forum environment. THe rest of the forums represent peer to peer support on various topics. What kind of stuff is not being addressed by the 8,000 subforums we already have? _____________________

Tina is suggesting a customer support forum for resident produced content, where say you could post a message to your customers saying, for instance "a fault has been found with the Mk 17 dance machine, contact me inworld as LL have borked my abilities for automatic updates, and ill see you right" That sort of customer support, not LL Customer Support _____________________

Example...
SL 1.9.(5)'s multithreaded object rezzing nerf kills most of my weapons. A messy workaround is being adapted and new version will be passed out to customers, note that this might (read: most definitely will) crash the sim if you attempt to fire it. |

What about setting up your own forum? I've not bothered keeping track of the free forum services, but perhaps they're not the advertising mess they were a few years ago.
Also, the cost of setting up a private forum is quite minimal and relatively painless now. Where once you had to assemble all the parts, there are now ISPs that bundle them all together; putting up a generic forum is as easy as a few mouse clicks in many cases (it would look like the one I should be customizing - http://forum.rebang.com/ ; that's how a generic phpBB sets up). [p.s. Don't sign up. It's just for me to play with the code.] |

No there should not be a CS forum.
...it would piss me off even more to watch that forum also be ignored. Or filled with "fluff" non answers. _____________________

[p.s. Don't sign up. It's just for me to play with the code.] There are still plenty of free forums out there. One that I have used numerous times is ExcoBoards. Very user friendly, especially for those who have no experience in setting up a board, and lots of feature scripts etc can be found on Exco's support forum. Many of the board owners are more than willing to help solve problems and help you with the looks of your board. The Support Forum: http://excoboard.com/exco/index.php?boardid=2 A very helpful board for owners/admins: http://excoboard.com/exco/index.php?boardid=9723 Exco's site: http://excoboard.com/ I'll be setting up a board in the near future for support for DnS Designs customers. There will be a clickable object in all store locations to take you to the main page. Once there just save it to favorites and support will always be just a click or two a way. ![]() _____________________
