Walkable Waypoints for Fashion shows etc

It would be very nice to allow a user to set waypoints for another avatar to follow-- like in Barbie Fashion Show. That would enable a fashion show coordinator -- or anyone on some other project for that matter-- to be able to define a path for an avie to walk. Pehaps at each waypoint, a suitable pose anim could be played. If there is a method to achieve this using "go here" funtionality and scripting, please help me in investigating. I would be happy to script this if the appropriate calls are avail.

Ideally, there'd be a list of X number of poses-- in desired order. The director or even the subject avatar player themselves would click ground locations dynamically. The avatar woiuld navigate to it and pose. Then the avatar would strut to the next location clicked and pose etc.

SEQUNCE END:
Perhaps the avie would return to the origin of the sequence by default if no further locations were clicked-- optionally the avie could remain at the LAST location clicked in the last pose or anim set.

NOTE:

The pose/anim-- list of poses to play at the waypoints should allow both animation objects as well as static pose objects.

FINAL NOTE:

All poses/anims could be frozen, and there should be a control to allow the head/neck bone rotations to be overridden/modifiable via the LookAT (ALT+Click) functionality.

That gives a virtual photographer infinite options to adjust the head by having the model look at a prim once the pose it set.

Thanks,

How about an object like a wearable attachment or dance machine that will play your desired walk up the runway and poses in order with one click? Or maybe you can hire a Poser expert to make you a long custom animation that combines the walk and poses all in one?

Dynamic Walkable Waypoint

Good points Kim. But the thought is to add Dynamic ability and greater interactivity and situational creativity.

That would take us beyound where we are today. Curently we are already at the preloaded chimera stage and custom anim state. But I envision the next stage as being one of greater dynanism, collaboratation and spontenaity.

I don't see why this isn't possible without scripting.

At worst, a hack could be done where the model sits on an invisible vehicle that goes to each invisible waypoint on the runway. a volume detect could be done where if they get within a certain distance to the waypoint, they stop the walking animation and go to whatever animation you need them to do, for 5-6 seconds, and then off to the next waypoint.

I'm a non-scripter, but even this would be fairly non-trivial to do I would think.

I can tell you that the basis of this feature already exists in the client. It's simply not visible to everyone -- Lindens can comment further on this.

Catherine Omega: Yes, but lots of stuff isn't listed. "Making UI harder to use than ever" and "removing all the necessary status icons" things.... there's nothing like that in the release notes. :)

Vehicle/Volume detect Idea

Lordfly, I think your idea sounds great. I'll study that and see if I can come up with a prototype. Thanks Nck

people are not likely to respond to you much if you're not flaming or putting down linden lab employees. it's a sad state of affairs.
