I just found out about the public Help Island a few days ago.
Sunday night it was full, with 50 people showing on the map.
Couldn't get in the sim.
Perhaps it's time for Help Island Public Two?

I'd wait a bit, it's brand new and people just heard about it, thus they are just checking it out?
I'd wait a bit to see if it'd die down till those people get bored of it.

At 2:18 PDT on a Thursday, there's 35 people in it.
I suspect that the crowd is not "people checking it out", it's mostly new users who left HI/OI or got kicked out due to sim crash trying to get some help.
If the sim is full, it doesn't matter that it might be full of folks that are just nosing around, the new users that are being told to use Help Island Public if they are unable to use a normal HI any longer will still not be able to access it.
