Would it be possible to implement a notecard writing method?
Of course, I know you cannot let an object "create" a notecard, that would lead to someone just filling objects with notecards, replicating the object, filling more, and piling garbage into the system, and what not.
But..... what if you implement the ability to clear/write/append data to a notecard which is already contained in inventory, and then include a short script delay after each write? So, for scripts which require notecard writing, you would have to manually create the notecard and place it in an object's contents along with the script. This would give many scripters a fabulous function for storing script data, and LSL a safety net against the feature being abused.

Thread is related, but doesn't answer the question.
The way I've understood the way notecards work is that everytime you hit "save" a new notecard is generated on the server and the old version still exists too, even if it's an unlinked asset!

I'm confused. The way notecard data is accessed is through an asset keyed by the UUID of the notecard. If you give someone a copy of your notecard, you are NOT creating a new asset with a new UUID. If you could somehow change the actual data associated with your notecard, you would be changing the data for EVERY USER AND OBJECT THAT HAS A COPY OF YOUR NOTECARD. You really think that should be possible? I don't.

That would be really usefull for updating notecards that point to locations.
Edit: for like "We've moved" messages.
One thought would be for a wiki like page where you could click on "revisions", but that would clutter the asset server even more as some revisions would not be referenced anymore by anyone.
How about a system where the note card creator could add highlights and notes. Each note card would have two pages. One would be static and changing it would update the GUID, the other would be changeable and the changes would be reflected across SL.
-- Or maybe "changeable" note cards would get a new GUID when transferred or copied.
