I am wondering why we can't teleport to Orientation Island.

As a greeter, I always IM my 'greets' as soon as I get the request, introducing myself and saying to contact me when they get in game.

I had one poor confuzzled n00b IM me from Orientation Island, totally confused, couldn't even navigate or anything, desperate for help. I told her to open my profile and hit Teleport to bring me over, but I got an error message saying I couldn't teleport there.

I can understand the general populace - including griefers - being kept out of orientation island, but wouldn't it be helpful if greeters and mentors could be allowed to teleport there to rescue lost, confused newbies?

After 10 minutes of trying to explain just basic navigation this poor girl was getting more and more frustrated with the game, and then appeared to have logged out. She hasn't come back in, and I wonder how many newbies we might lose that way?

I can't even remember enough about orientation island to talk her through what directions to go through to get off of it and into the main grid - so the ability to go there for a refresher from time to time would be helpful for us that have a genuine need to do so.

You can, your volunteer group tag has to be active though.
Once your tag is active you can find it in regions by typing help island

So far as just getting someone off the OI, just give them a landmark to the place of your choice, or I think you can offer them a teleport.

With a high speed flight aid on it only takes a good 1 or 2 seconds to reach the entry point on the O.I.

I don't have to have my mentor title showing to teleport to H.I.

I tried that.... she either couldn't figure out how to hit the "Teleport" button from the request I sent her, or she didn't get it. But I couldn't teleport there directly.

Eventually I figured it to get to her but she'd gone. I noticed I couldn't set myself a landmark to get directly to Orientation Island either.
