I'm just curious as to how many of the ideas from the public actually get implemented into the SL world. Any past experience on knowing of an idea that was? Or an idea that the public loved but didn't get put in.

Lemme see...
The prims-tied-to-land was introduced as a way to more fairly distribute server resources (a big stink was raised about people hogging prims).
Animations got in.
Private estates got in. And their expanded controls.
Tons more land got put in due to user request.
Private auction bidding was put in. As well as extended bidding.
Was dwell a player-requested thing? I can't remember.
A new permissions system is int he works, which is player-requested.
Did XML-RPC ever get fully implemented?

The initial permissions proposal was essentially the opposite of what was requested. What is being suggested now is more in line with what people wanted.
XML-RPC still has not been fully implimented.
There's about a dozen requests I've made that I've never even seen glimmers of hope for, as have many other people.
I'd guess it's something along the lines of 100:1 or something.

From: Moleculor Satyr The initial permissions proposal was essentially the opposite of what was requested. What is being suggested now is more in line with what people wanted. I'm sure someone requested fair use ^_^' or they wouldn't have considered it. On a related topic I know GPL was requested and considered. Commands i've supported or suggested... (in one form or another) llGetNumberOfNotecardLine llGetObjectDesc llSetObjectDesc llGetCreator llGetTimestamp llSetLinkAlpha llGetNumberOfPrims llGetNumberOfNotecardLines llGetPrimitiveParams llSetPrimitiveParam revamping and backwards compatibility. llGetBoundingBox (i bitched to a linden about this one for a good while, not quite what i wanted but close enough) I vaguely remember complaining about the lack of llLog & llLog10 at some point. Bugs Reported: to many to count. LL has been pretty good about addressing most bugs.

Work done is proportional to staff available.
Staff available has not increased more than a few people in the last few months.
Ergo, Work done is slowly increasing, but not hugely. (Granted, it's a lot of work anyway)
Number of suggestions is proportional to players with ideas.
Number of players have gone up rapidly
Ergo, number of suggestions has gone up rapidly.
- in conclusion, the ratio of suggestions / implementations will continue to rise.
...
Consider also bug reports are essentially user requests/suggestions for change of code.
we also got - streaming music on land - fix of object-object collision detection in LSL (huge personal gripe that got solved!) - LL say it would overhaul ratings system / that it is in works / have open discussions about the subject - more land when it was scarce and prices inflated and people complaining about price
to name a couple big ones.
