Ok this isnt really a suggest but rather a note to people suggesting making avatar's have to eat. Most people that left TSO left because of arbitrary stuff like that. Eating would be something that would just be a hassle to the vast majority of SL users and would make things absurdly complicated for those with basic accounts. They cant afford much. You already can eat in SL actually its just your choice to eat or not. There is no reason to add hunger in. I will note that this ISNT a game. They make games inside it but SL itself is a development platform having to buy food to eat would hinder that and also make some weird problems.

Such as the fact that most food is still in your inventory which causes a problem. Items in SL dont just disappear really. Its not plausible to put alot of the stuff in TSO into here because of how SL is set up. Its not the sims its not there.com its not like any other thing on the market. There's only advantage is better vehicles. I'd hate to see anything from TSO implemented really and most of the majority would probably agree that it'd be kind of pointless!

pfft, making a sims hud wouldn't be that difficult at all. It could require that you eat, sleep, go to the bathroom, enjoy the scenery, socialize, all that good stuff. That's why SL is cool, stuff like this you can do for yourself if you want to.

As to whether or not it should be done. you started out by responding that there are people who want it, and ended by saying most people think it would be pointless :). maybe most would, but those first people you're addressing seem to think it would be fun. In all honesty this is one of the few things that could probably be done better in SL than it was done originally. For starters, no Gnoming or other mindless skilling. You have the skills you bring to the game. I can kind of see the attraction, as it provides a reason for those houses everyone seems to think they need. An arbitrary reason to be sure, but still, a little more sim to your av might be fun.

It's a cool idea for something to add, avatar getting tired after travelling a lot without a rest, hunger etc. Initially it would probably require an avatar to tell it once they've eaten, but if you market it and it becomes popular then it can use some standard framework that 'food makers' can adhere to to be compatible. I dunno about having items delete though, I don't like the idea of buying something and having it disappear.

But yeah, it's not really feature worthy, but a good possibility for something you could make/market, why not try your hand at scripting it or get friends who can script to help?

na, no reason to have the avatar tell it they've eaten. can all by taken care of between the attachment and food. SLs permissions do not lend themselves to a game requiring an open API or scripting standards. food and objects would probably have to be sent to avatars from a central dispenser meaning that if someone wants to create food, they'd have to submit it for distribution. Comfort, Energy, Cleanlyness, even aesthetics could be scripted.

An important aspect would be pricing of amenities. For instance if the food protocol was opened up or even distributed by licenseing of a closed script (creator linked), there's still a pretty good chance that eventually food would be available for free, which defeats the purpose of any such game for both the player, and for the service owner. It should be pretty inexpensive 5-20L say, but it should not be free. Likewise for game enabled furniture and appliances.

Also an important aspect of this game would be that items are not copyable. Possibly resellable, but not copyable. Above it's mentioned that objects should not just dissapear but in tso and the sims, many items are definately perishable, and should be.

This is a game. There's some inherent paradox in SL. The freedom to do anything, including the freedom to limit yourself for the sake of "playing".

If there's seriously interest in something like this I'd be willing to start it up. This could even include house building al'a sims, which is an idea that's crossed my mind before. If you look at this idea and say, hmm... yes this is something that i would do, please take into account that from the developer side this is not a small project and I would expect to make some money off of it. if you have to eat about 3 times a sim day, buy appliances, furniture etc, then you my pay something between 15-50L per day. Of course you can stop playing at anytime by taking off the attachment, but there will be a penalty for doing that in your meters... IE if you detach your attachment you are free as long as you want, but when you reattach it you will have half of all your bars. I would attempt to calibrate things such that you can continue playing SL in much the same way that you normally do. IE you can carry food with you if you need to eat, sitting will rest you slowly or at least stop your rest meter from dropping so you can continue chatting. that sort of thing.
