These are some ideas I had about how to make Feature Voting better.
The main idea I have is that when a proposal gets a vote, it should go back to the top of the list, the same way our forum postings go to the top of the list again when someone adds a comment to our thread. There are lots of great proposals out there, but guess what happens? It spends a day on the first page of the list, maybe 2, but then as new proposals are added, it gets pushed off and down, down, down. So sad. But if a proposal moved to the top again every time it received a vote, it would not be so easily forgotten, and if it is receiving votes, then it must be a good idea and worthy of being at the top again. I know I really don't read past the first 1 or 2 pages of proposals.
Next, it would be nice if the proposals opened in a new window or something so that the text went all the way across the page, allowing more proposals to be on each page. Again, it goes back to the out of sight, out of mind thing, and our own lazyness, or lack of time to read past the first couple pages.
Have a link to the hottest proposals, or the proposals that have the most votes. Haven't really thought too much about this one, but it would be nice to see what's getting a lot of votes. Or have a sort by feature, like sort by category, most votes, etc.
I think feature voting is a great thing, but the current system is so cumbersome. I think some of these ideas would help cut down on duplicates of the same thing too.

No one votes, it falls off the page, I alocate one more vote to it and it pops back to the top, so I deallocate my vote. It falls off the top, I allocate and deallocate 1 vote.....

It's sad that people do that stuff...seems like there could be a way to stop that, and have things run the way they are intended to run, instead of having people constantly try to circumvent the system.
But do you at least see the validity of what I am saying?...Good proposals get buried, because of moving down the page....
Maybe the new feature voting tool should only allow you one vote for your own proposal, or by starting the proposal that is your vote. Let it stand on its own merit. Which is the way it should be.

Oh yes, I think your proposal is a good one, I was just pointing out a potential for abuse of the system.

Nah, you just need to take that kind of abuse into account and find a way to work around it, say:
If a proposal gets a net gain of votes, it jumps to the top of the list. If it later loses votes it'll fall in the list. The fall will be relative to how many votes its recieved net in the last 24 hours and placed accordingly with other proposals (the on just above haivng more net votes, the one below having fewer). Anything that falls off the first page (or first several pages of proposals that have all been voted on in a certain time period (24 hours)) will be arranged in the list this way as well.

I only look at the votes when I'm searching for a vote that fits a proposal here, or a vote is directly mentioned here.

From: Natasha Armistice Not sure how a proposal can lose votes currently... Allocate fewer. You can take votes away from proposals, there's even a warning: "If you set your votes to 0 and you are the only person with votes, the proposal will be marked for deletion."
