Title says it all really. Wouldn't it be nice if announcements (knowing when the grid's back up especially :D) just popped up in our feed readers?

Anyone else agree?

I once read on these forums a way to setup your RSS reader to read any forum category you wanted. I think I had it working for a couple of days and then started getting errors and just deleted the feed with the hopes of going back and fixing it... only to never find the thread again.

It's a shame you can't seach "RSS" in the forums.

It'd be quite doable with a PHP script or something, although I don't know if LL would be happy having it out in the open so we'd probably have to run it locally and I don't think it's a good idea security wise to have everyone and their mum installing a scripted server on their PC.

Then again, my RSS reader doesn't handle secure connections so I guess if LL would have concerns about having it out in the open it'd be no good for me anyway. Maybe I'll ask them if they mind me setting up an open feed if I'm ever in the mood to make one.

They will mind, that's why they are not publically accessible. As some relatively new players have noted, if they had access to the forums prior to subscribing to SL, they never would have.

I think it is possible to get the forum moderator to add three letter terms to a list of searchable three tetter terms.

I would suggest in addition to RSS, the three letter trigonometry words sin, cos and tan.

I am sure there are a number of other such three letter words and much-used acronyms that it would be great to be able to seach for.

If I am correct about it being possible to have specific three letter terms made searchable it would be nice to get the procedure out in public, added to the forum guidelines, added to the Second Life wiki (not the scripting wiki, the other that the Linden company can't decide on one consistent name for), and in notecards given to the Live Help and the mentors, greeters, and instructors.

I am I wrong I guess it would be good to know for sure so I can stop hoping of someday being able to to look up sin, cos, and tan.

I came across this thread, by the way, looking for info on RSS, and the term I used to get around the three letter problem was "feeds".
