I think as firefox is being integrated, perhaps a few more link functions should be added to increase usability.
Right now linking to secondlife:region/x/y/z opens the client and displays a map to that region. If the client is already open, it opens the map.
I think SL would be better is there was a way to pay people&objects via link. Something like secondlife:pay/key/amount would open a pay box for that amount to be credited to that key.

... I don't get it. 0.o
Anyhoo... I'm not saying it would do it automatically. I'm saying it would open the pay dialog. Sorry, sometimes I fail to express myself properly. -.-
It would pop up: Pay Baba Fast Pay (9999999999) (Pay) (Cancel)
In which case the previous link wouldn't work as a scam because A)I would just hit cancel, and B) I don't have that kind of money.

I suppose it would be possible. I'm really not quite seeing the point, though. How many occasions would somebody want to immediately pay somebody money? With location urls it makes sense; you're reading a site, somebody posts a location, you click on it and you go there. Why would you want to pay somebody money really quickly and easily from the web and not actually have any guarantee of receiving anything for it?

Well for people it probably wouldn't amount to anything other than a "Tip jar"
But for paying objects, you can easily heve them be scripted to deliver an item on payment.
Suppose, for example I'm in a mall in Secondlife. I see a vendor and click on it. It opens a firefox window listing all the items the vendor has in a php script that also tracks my key. I click on link to buy a item. It runs a php script that logs that I wanted that item and redirects me to a pay link. The pay window pops up in SL and I choose to pay. The money goes to an in-game server prim that has all my wares and triggers a money event to check my webserver what the payment os intended for. The webserver says that my key wanted x item for y price and the in-game server delivers.
It would allow for really detailed and customized shops that don't depend on third parties to handle the money.
And as far as misdirecting users via ill-named links, you can already set prims to pop up pay boxes on touch... so I don't see how this is *that* much different.
