We've seen new features come into SL for a while now, and there seems to be a general trend.
A lot of them are things which should be considered a 'preference', but never do they actually get put into the preferences.
So, moving forward, can Linden Labs please make all these wonderful new preferences actually options for preferences?
Examples:
1) Holding jump starts fly
2) Popup window notifications for online/offline, inventory give/receive, event notifications, etc. Yes I realize you can disable online/offline notifications, I don't want to disable them, I just don't want them to both be a popup and a chat history event.
3) Sim name/coordinates in minimap rather than consistently on screen.
4) Prim usage and Land usage bars gone with no trace of them ever being seen again. Yes I realize 1.2 changes the way prim and land usage is handled, but it doesn't mean this data should be gone. There are still many implications of prim and land usage in a sim. Sandbox anyone?
I'm sure people can come up with many more instances of this.
In the future, can the thought be given to people who liked the old methods, and allow us to disable new features?

There is a lot to be said for the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" stance.

Also there should be a "Close Folders on Exit" for the inventory.
Alot of things are just poof gone, when most people would much rather have options to turn them off or on.
I agree with yah.

IMHO, the usefulness of the land usage bar was always dubious. The practice of purchasing land such that there are narrow strips of public land bordering it has always been widespread. Few people purchase cliff faces adjacent to their land. This means that while the land usage bar might indicate substantial land remaining, little or none of it might be suitable for purchase.

1.2.4: Mini-map now has indicator of object usage for an entire simulator. Yay. Minor victory. And now, on to the rest of the list....

Dusty: well, just due to the way that the prim allocation works (per sim, not per parcel) it's useful to know just how much of the sim is actually owned. Say i'm looking for a sim where I can get currently 1024m^2 of land for a build. However, I'd also like to know if there was an additional 1024m^2 of land free in various parcels throughout the sim. Not because I want them for the actual build, but just for the additional prim allocation. Knowing the sim is at 98% land ownership, I would know that I do not want to use this sim, even if it has a single 1024m^2 open plot. I can look at the bar and know "I'm not going to have any expansion room in this sim."

Ah, I see. You would be buying up those "useless" little pieces just for the extra prim allocation. Good idea. I hate seeing all those narrow strips of public land - better to put them to good use. Are you concerned that you might be bombarded by requests to free up the land from people who own the larger adjacent plots and who want to expand?

Some good ideas si. Actully the bar on the mini-map is for Land Usage not Object Usage.

I'm hoping the interface adjustments come soon. I preferred my buttons at the top.
