Is it too much to ask to have a (BUSY) next to your name in the calling card list if indeed you are in "busy mode"?

I completely agree (no bias I promise :D), would be something that could tie in nicely with LL's changing the IM system.

How about an invisable button or option? It is a matter of privacy that really needs to be addressed. There are times when I want to be left alone and "busy" isn't cutting it. Nothing like spending some intimate time with your SO only to be interupted by customers, or an aquantance who mapped you and wants to show you their latest version of nipple ring they made or the ever popular stalker ex-boyfriend / girlfriend.

This has been a suggestion thats been discussed in lengthy threads. I agree with this idea and would love to see it personaly.

Overall I'd love to see more improvements to CallingCards to the point of them being simular in style to the abillities most IM clients have (Yahoo in particular with its individual group settings and such).

Unfortantly Robin's post here: /invalid_link.html

Is detering... if the technology for calling cards is really limited that much... that just sucks and should be changed. It makes me wonder though, if the calling cards can reflect when a user is offline and online, and when they have canceled your card, why can't they reflect things such as busy, away, or other either?

And why couldn't they be changed to do so?

It seems there some things that unfortantly go unchanged due to legacy issues.

Perhaps Robin misunderstood the question, and thought we wanted the "Busy" notification in Inventory, rather than in the IM window. I can see that the former might be difficult, whereas the latter ought to be relatively simple.

I'd dispute Robins answer anyway.

If I give perms to someone to mod my stuff, it puts an asterisk in front of the name (or is it if I have their perms? no matter. same diff). How is that any different from putting busy there?

BTW, don't you think it's a bit dumb that:

In a profile where you have that calling card, it tells you their online status

In a profile you pull up from find, where you dont have their calling card, it refuses to tell you their online status

But the Find dialogue itself not only tells you their online status, but allows you to filter on it.

Seems a lil inconsistent.

I thought the former is what this topic was about?

And I agree with yah Kris, sometimes it does show in the find though doesn't it? In the profile I mean? I haven't really looked recently, guess I'm mistaken on that.

You can also look up someones status if they IM you and you don't have their calling card. Although that often results in the "Unknown" bug.

That wasn't clear to me, but I took a guess that it was actually the IM window we were discussing, because of the reference to people not IMing if they saw the "Busy" note. That would be the most convenient place to note it from my point of view, anyway.

Yes, the inconsistency is bizarre, but I assume it's a bug....

As far as I know ... It isnt any different, and couldn't imagine it being too hard to implement. Would just have to tell everyones client on your CC list that your status is busy, rather than just the one like how it is with modify permissions.

But I could be VERY much mistaken :o

Indeed Kris, it should be consistent throughout the system. I'd like to see a simple "Hide My Location" and "Hide My Online Status" function, as in many other VR systems. Some, such as ActiveWorlds allow you to simply hide or show your location and/or online status globally from everyone except chosen contacts *smiles*. Or you can show your status to all, but block it to a particular contact.

Hello,
I'm not trying/wanting to hide from anyone :). If I felt I needed to, I would delete the card and be done with it. I can see this happening: Friend *A* is waiting for you to come online and runs into friend *B* and mentions they are waiting to speak with you. Friend *B* might say "Oh they are on now" causing friend "A" to feel bad. I guess I am lucky none of my friends are so rude as to map me and show up. We are considerate and just ask for a TP giving the other person the option to say it's not a good time :D .......I like how THERE has a red hand next to the name when a person is on "BUSY" (sorry to compare, don't scream)
