"Homeless people" log in to their last location even if it is on private property. This had lead to several emberrassing incidents on my property. Would be nice if they would log back into the nearest telehub instead. At least give the property owner and option to allow or disallow this to happen.

Would you include those with homes as well? They can also login wherver they last were.

Being polite
11-17-2005 09:53
While as a feature this might be nice, a solution I currently apply is this.
If I'm in someone's home I "TP out" before I log out. If I dont' have a home I go to the WA or some random public spot. When I do have a home and someone is my guest. I politely ask them to TP out before they log out. When it's very very close friend I've even said, "feel free to log out here" being the equivilant of "it's ok to crash on the couch" (ie it's ok to "wake up" here). |

I understand what you are saying Blueman and dont have a problem with most people (friends or not), but what if some random person flying around logs out on your property and then logs back in while you are having a private conversation. I have a lot of outside cuddle areas that I use and dont mind others using. What I am trying to get at is that I shouldn't have to be remind my friends to log out somewhere else and I shouldn't have to pay L's for a security system. It would be nice to set my property so that nobody can log in there and be done with it.

That could be possibly aggervating for many. While it may suck to have random people rezzing on your land, imagine flying across three other sims, then having a disconnect, and then ending up at the telehub again. You'd have to start all over again. Also, I find linden telehubs to be very laggy and annoying (especially if you get caught in a telehub).

Maybe if the Lindens invented a way for us to hold private conversations where others couldn't listen in?

Camille and Intent.... I know I could use IM's, but the point I am trying to make is that I am on my property and I should be able to have a conversation (im or open chat), private moment or run around naked if I want to without someone rezzing on my property.

I always keep my mini map open to have a private conversation or jump to a skybox. I understand this is a work-around, but just so ya know. What would be really nice if we had a "whisper setting" where two av's could not hear each other unless practically touching. (or actually touching in more *ahem private situations) The animation instead of typing would be a hand up to the side of the mouth, just as the animation for shouting is two hands up to the mouth. |

I've often wondered why, if this platform was inspired by "Snowcrash", that we don't have a single rezzing area...or rez in the nearest telehub from where we logged off.
At least for those who have no home.... |

Ok, so you have no home.. but you always hang out in a certain sim (ala, Transylvania).. but..everytime you log out.. you wind up back at some telehub god knows where. Yeah, that'd get OLD real fast. Here's the thing.. in SL, unless you set your land to accessable only by certian people, or you have a security system.. THERE IS NO PRIVACY IN GENERAL CHAT.. that's why there is an IM system. Stop whining.

But if you're having a private conversation, and you set your land's access list to the people you're having a conversation with, wouldn't the newcomer get ejected as soon as they rezzed? |

Anybody that doesn't have a home point set I consider to be homeless...lol. Personaly I think its rude to rez on someone's property unless you have their permission first. I don't find that's a fair generalization because a lot of Resis do own land, but if they're at a friend's party and they need to relog because of graphics glitches or whatever, they want to end up back in the same place. Relogging is sometimes done very quickly, too. It's also important to remember that Login Location is chosen independently of having an actual home point. TELEPORT HOME from WORLD will still work. ![]() I'm all for good manners. It's not so much an instance of rezzing on someone's property that's rude, as it is unwantedly arriving there and not leaving when requested in the first place. Good communication counts for a lot and I've seen a lot of new Resis unaware that they're unwanted hanging around, like Frankenstein's monsters or something. Plus, even if someone doesn't relog on your property, they can walk by and fly through. ![]() More effective is to get a simple home device—it doesn't even have to eject or anything, just makes you aware—that sensors periodically and detects nearby and incoming avs. Then, if you're concerned, you can be alerted without having to keep checking for green dots. Argent makes a good point about being in motion too. That's something sorely overlooked, but perfectly consistent with the variable dynamics of SL. _____________________

Anybody that doesn't have a home point set I consider to be homeless...lol. Personaly I think its rude to rez on someone's property unless you have their permission first. I have a home set but have the preference set to put me at my last location instead of home when I log in - and I'm very glad it's there because I often go somewhere with a lot of AV's and have to relog - it would really suck for me if this feature wasn't there, as I end up having to relog a lot. Dorra, I know it might be inconvenient and not the answer you're looking for, but another solution would be to temporarily set your parcel access list to only allow you and the person(s) you're talking to while you are having a private discussion, I believe this would kick the person out of your parcel as they log back in having logged out on your parcel.. _____________________

Anyone that logs out in my house will return 200m below where they were. There are some advantages to living over 256m up.

Just a thought ...
As a newbie, I have unfortunately been in the position where I rez on someone’s land because I forgot to tp out before I logged off. I hate doing it, and will always tp out as soon as my interface will allow, but being new it's something that I’m still getting used to. It occurs to me that while it may not be a perfect solution, there may be some mileage in adding a dropdown box to the logon screen to allow someone to select to either rez at their home or last location, with the default set to "home". That may at least stop the new players such as myself accidentally rezzing in the wrong place. Those that need to log on at their last location can still do so. I know that this can be set in the client preferences, but I just think it would be useful if it was more visable. I realise of course that the bloody-minded will still select to log on to their last location just because they can, or they think they are invited or whatever - I’m purely talking about the accidental invasions caused by genuine errors. Like I said, just a thought. I may be wrong, and probably am. _____________________
