As Nolan put it :D

ANYWAY, if select residents can be put in charge of the forums, why not the events list? Theres more spam and its needed more desperatly.

Thumbs up or Thumbs down?

Sounds like it's bridging to a Report Abuse button for Events. I think we'll find lots of promising parallels here. :)

Very much a "yes", and put me down as volunteering.

Just how much control are we handing over to other subscribers? I voted no because I think this is LL job.

The problem is lack of "self censorship".

The rules are quite clear, and if people can't follow them freely, then someone has to force them to follow them. Whether that's a Linden, or a select group of individuals that LL hand over that power to, I don't see what the problem is.

Quite simply, if people just read the rules, the problem wouldn't exist in the first place, therefore what other solution is there except "ignore it"?

I would have no problem becoming a "Lewis Linden" for the purposes of moderating the events calender. After all, what difference does "Lewis Nerd" or "Lewis Linden" make as it's still me, given the same authority by LL to carry out the task of clearing crap from the calendar?

I voted "yes", and I'd extend that to classifieds as well.

I'm not sure you're going to find someone who'd stick to it for long, this seems likely to become a high-grief job.

The rules are quite clear....

I respectfully disagree, Lewis. The current rules still leave plenty open to individual interpretation - one of the reasons we still have event calendar issues.

If the definition of an event was black or white, I'd vote yes!

In the absense of that, I vote no. As evidenced by the Events Workgroup meetings this summer, there is a wide range of definitions on what an event 'is'.

The official Linden description of 'Event' is not specific enough, and leaves much open to interpretation. That interpretation can include anything from "If I post it, its an event" to "If it has a host, its an event" to "Only things that are special or are a rarity are a event."

I love the idea of a "Report Event Abuse" button - I just think it should do no more than flag an event for review by Linden, and allow Linden to apply the rules as neccesary.

I am the lone "other." Other = report button on events listings to steer the improper listing(s) to the appropriate Linden (or whoever, preference is for someone FAIR). I think we take for granted that any one Linden does/knows absolutely everything that's going on in world. It's a big world. They are working to make this world for us. Yes, we are their customers, but that does not negate the fact that the ratio of Lindens~SL problems is very very low. Hopefully I've made at least a little sense :)

*bump*

And..

I would much much much prefer they assign a Linden to take some time to look over the event listings, however, would you like this plan to come into action until that happens?
