anyone else notice the main continent has gotten really big lately?

in the months since i have joined it has gone from navigateable largely by visible landmarks and relatively easy to fly between any 2 points on the map to extremely time consuming to fly to a destination that could easily be 15 sims away (vehicles make it better but as noted in other threads they have their own problems). this makes exploring much harder. what about instead of making just 1 really big continent and private islands there were more smaller continents so even if you don't know the whole grid there is at least 1 area you do know your way around.

i'm not saying what is there now should be split up, although a few earthquakes and plate tectonics starting to cause drift into smaller sub continents could be very cool, but that maybe the next large influx of land shouldn't be connected to the main continent unless by a bunch of deep ocean void sims (fun for boating and submarining).

Yeah, I have to admit, finding the sim I want to go to is a bit harder now that the entire thing is one massive splotch of sims. Before the Void Sims went in, I at least had familiar shaped "holes" I could look for on the map to find something.

Seperate continents would be interesting, but we need to have more of a reason for them BEYOND just making it easier to find what we're looking for on the map.

Though I'm not sure we'll ever actually split up what we have.

why isnt making it easier to find what we're looking for on the map reason enough? its not like there would be any additional cost of setting up a group of sims off the mainland instead of attached to it. and i dont mean that this is just a good idea so you can find things on the map, but to be able to be able to explore and navigate the way people do in RL, by visual landmarks. even with terraforming and the ability to rapidly change what is on your land things often remain the same long enough to still have enough continuity to be able to pick out landmarks to navigate by.

There is a little drop down on the right of the map. Scroll down that find the Sim you want and click the little teleport button.

the void sims are the same color as the holes used to be, aside from a couple small islands. is it that hard to see the holes compared to before? hehe continental drift would be fun but you'd get alot of former neighbors screaming on here. wait a week and you'll be completely used to things like they are now.

phil: that just means all you see of sl is the places you know and the shortest line from a telehub to it. that leaves out the majority of stuff out there.

zuzi: im less concerned about what the map looks like as how big the world is and how hard it has gotten to explore it all, i love the void sims, i think they are really necessary, the invisible walls sucked.

Make a landmass named after me! Cause I'm just that cool. How about the isle of Gosh?
