After last night's drizzle of mass TP invites to some strip club by a multitude of users, I qould love to see a setting allowing the following:
________________________________

- Block Instant Messages by Users Not On My CC List *

- Block Teleport Requests by Users Not On My CC List *

- Ignore Sounds Played by People/Objects who I have set MUTED
________________________________

From what I hear ingame, yesterday a group of people in a certain sim were mass-TP-inviting (unsolicited, and repeatedly) pretty much everyone with a T in their name (about 79% of the current online SL) to a strip club. After asking for them to stop, they repeated. Again and again.

HMm, Actually, out of curiosity, does MUTE block TP requests?

* NOTE: This would of course exclude Lindens and other admin-types, as they would obviously need to be able to IM anyone. Heh. :)

The sound filter would simply be a gift from heaven. Sure, when someone pulls out a banana phone or something we can abuse report them, but if no Linden is online, then there's got to be a working way to silence them so we don't go mad! :)

Yes, people will say "You could just turn off your sound" or "Just turn down your volume"... but I'm the frame of mind of "Why should WE have to deafen ourselves to silence one single annoying person?"

Yeah Psyra, I agree that adding the option for these without being too complex would go a long way. Little checkboxes, sure thing. :)

I've got another thread here summarizing a lot of my feature requests.

Keep it up on the nice aviatars :) (avian avatars of course)

Despite a lack of a T in my name, I received several invites also. But this wasn't the first time or the first group I've had this problem with. IMHO this new wave of spam TPs seems to be a side effect from the removal of the hourly announcements. I dread the day where I have random notecards popping up on my screen non stop telling me where I can get good prices on Viagra.

I was one of those that was getting Imed, they got me three, maybe four times in the span of a few hours.

Meanwhile some other pleeb was getting me via IM. And yet somebody else was dropping notecards on my profile from afar.

Either we need some filtering (I dont agree with the suggestion method, whitelisting blocks too many legit messages.), or we need these people to be dealt with by the admins in a timely fassion.

Or we could all just band together and handle it ourselves.

C'mon, this is the internet, it's the wild wild west of the information age. If these people are dumb enough to resort to spamming the entire world of SL, then they should be dumb enough to not expect 200+ angry AV's who are looking to have a few 'words' with the culprit. :P

Also, why not just take the TP? If everybody shows up at once, the sim will likely grind to a halt, this becomes counter productive to their spams goal. Accept the TP, but then walk off theparcel so they don't get the dwell, give it to some of the poor folks who have to live next to a moron who runs a spam-club.

People who spam are playing a dangerous game of numbers and chance, where they gamble that the number of people who accept the TP are greatly outweighed by those who ignore it vs those who actualy bother to show up and confront them about it.

Tip the numbers a little, and TP spam becomes a very un-appealing thing for the spammer and the club or whatever it is they are trying to promote.

Just my .2 on the subject.

I always tell them that it says RIGHT IN MY PROFILE that I don't want random people offering teleports and dropping landmarks and so forth. They always apologize profusely.

I wholeheartedly support exploring adding filters to IM and TP.

Also - auto-response for IM while offline?

Hm, you want it to be configurable like the current "Busy" auto-response? :)

I know it tells the user right now when you are offline and that the message is stored and all that.

This would go nicely hand-in-hand with a "Please do not disturb" auto-response for IM when you are online and busy in an activity. ;)

Cheerios & honey!
