Hi there. I was just wondering if it would be possible to change the format for downloading sounds to the game to a format that is more compressed and easier/more commonly used. However, I am no expert on such things, so I do not know what format to suggest. What I do know is that I have friends who have complained that the .wav format takes up too much space, and that I have been having trouble changing my sounds into that format. If anyone knows more about this subject than I do, please add your thoughts.

If you are using a PC you have a built-in tool for basic sound conversion if you cannot get a WAV to come out in the right format for uploading.
The tool is called the Sound Recorder and dates back to Windows 3.1, but even XP has it lurking in the Windows system folder. Go to Start -> Run... and type in sndrec32 to open it 1. Open the source file (a .WAV of the wrong format) 2. Choose Save As... 3. At the bottom it shows the format and a Change.... Click the button 4. Choose PCM in the upper selection (usually already selected) 5. Choose 44.100 kHz, 16-bit, Mono in the lower selection 6. Click OK, choose a new name for the file and Save SndRec32 can also be used as a free way to live-capture audio as a WAV from other programs playing sound, by using the Recording volume control and a stereo 1/8" to stereo 1/8" plug. Set the Recording input to Line In, then plug the cable from your computer Line-Out into the Line-In, to loop the audio back into the computer again. Some audio devices will permit the computer's audio output to be directly selected as a recording source and so the cable hack may not be needed on your computer. |

Audacity will read a lot of different files and can save them quite easily to WAV.
