IMAGINE WALKING INTO A VIRTUAL ARCADE AND BEING ABLE TO PLAY on a real spaceinvader or pacman.. incorparating the mame emulator into sl would be so cool.. wether it would or could be done i dont know. i think the emualator could be placed within sl. legaly the use of roms in iworld i couldnt invisage. but mame itself in the client and utilising the emulator in world to load roms from your pc (legal of course) to play in arcades in sl would be a dream come true.

Hrm, it's an interesting idea, I guess the ability to do HTML on a prim would cover this though if it included Flash support, as there are many retro games reproduced in Flash. I think that's probably best in the long-run (if they ever get it done).
But yeah, would love some arcade style stuff. Games developed for SL tend to be very big and multiplayer centric, which is great but sometimes it's fun just to hang around, or kill time waiting for someone in-world.

Didn't you post this before?
MAME is great, sure, I have over a thousand ROMs, but MAME in SL? Why? Why not just... use MAME? SL isn't an operating system, not yet.

But WHY NOT have mame in world. they have a front end already which is an arcade with all the mame cabs and fruit machine emualtors and pinmame ect which is great. but it would be nice to to goto an inworld game were i can still have access to my friends im.. possibly 2 players .. or tournaments... imagine track and feild on a video arcade cab with a large screen for people to watch in world with a knockout championship with 100,s people......with leader boards..

Can you imagine the lag in an even slightly full amusement arcade? I don't think most PCs are yet up to running SL *and* a dozen copies of Mame, which is what would be effectively required in a room with 12 mame-activated texture panels in use.
