What about some way to implement a mannequin? As in one that you can use to:
Test skins on Attach avatar-attachable parts to Use to display animations (maybe) Apply shape files to
This would make it easy to show off items for sale as it would look in the world.

Use camping chair technology to use real avatars for your mannequin.

Made a simple one out of prims but it doesnt work for anything but placing avatar attachments. If they make SL mannequins, can we get them to add those creepy glass eyes that follow you around too?

Camping doesn't work I realised because when you kill an avatar they are TPed home. An object could be llKill()ed and then re-rezzed when required. You can't force an avatar to sit on an object.

Using the Linden PvP support for a combat-based RPG is probably not a good idea, even aside from this scheme. Create your own hit points and hit point objects and use them for NPCs and players alike, like Darklife does, like CCC does, like just about every combat system in game does. Then a killed NPC would be non-physically moved back to its spawn point.

However, I have no intention of every trying to build anything that complicated as I don't own land and will never have a large enough income (iRL or iSL) to support enough land. Therefore I don't think about how to BEST do it.
