As an A.I and Software Agents researcher, I would be really interested in an SDK for hooking up virtual people to the game. Maybe robots (artificial people) are not allowed/desirable in SL. If so it's a gonner, but NPCs for filming and research into artificial people and virtual avatars that can react to certain events would be cool. A wonderful research tool for the academic community.

Yeah, you could take begging for L$ to a whole new level!
Or maybe cybering for L$ to a whole new level? Kind of like elisa, but works for fetishes. I've often wondered how much AI works has been done in IRC |

I've often wondered how much AI works has been done in IRC If after 10min the discussion is still on-track you are:
Doc Mike - I really like the idea. There's no SDK or API at the moment, and may not be one for quite a while --- unless --- you are part of an academic research program with a large budget to throw at Linden Labs to fund the development. So, pleeeeeeeeeeze be part of an academic research program with a large budget to throw at Linden Labs to fund the development. ![]() |

well you could probably hack something together with AutoIt3.
A cyber bot would be interesting. I bet Turing would blush. _____________________

How do you read the chat text for use with AutoIt3? you could use Etherial and reverse enginere the chat protocall, and sniff it out. you could set the chat background transparentcy to 1 then take regular screen shots and use ocr software to parse it to text; you know the font so it's very possible to do so. Or you could have a script listening on channel 0 and have it send regular emails. _____________________

Would this be of any help?

Azrael Baphomet and I have been working on a sort of AIML for Second Life for use in english language-actuated scripts and virtual concierge applications for one's businesses, properties...
So far I'm reasonably pleased with the results I'm getting. Perhaps something written in LindenAIML, as I'm calling it, can be used on the dialogue side for a NPC. Code and some documentation here: /54/d3/65497/1.html I'm starting a sourceforge project for this...project should be approved in a few days... |

too many ideas!

<snip> Doc Mike - I really like the idea. ![]() Well actually... The only thing I can honestly offer is time, skill, and my HUGE BRAIN! I guess we have to work with what there is, convince Linden that we are doing good work that extends their product, then get into talks... If there was a simple way to slave the client, it would free up a lot of reverse engineering; I hate reverse engineering things cos it destroys time, resources, and good will. If I could just catch chat and im and then be able to squirt replies and/or AV commands we could get a believable remote. My other dream is to snag the save video to disk into a streaming server, so SLers could 'view' someone's viewpoint; great for sports, or those private detectives that are apparently around. Oh and evolving code for artificial life... and so on... Mike _____________________

wow...

sure would be fun to have an sl version of weta's 'massive', eh??
![]() but, barring that... are any of the previously mentioned, or can anyone suggest, an 'animation recorder' in sl that might be usable with an avi-ish model? that would make stuff like video/theatre production pretty simple... ![]() _____________________

SL Chatbot with full AIML access
08-14-2006 17:08
We have written a script that interfaces via the HttpRequest protocols with a AIML based chatbot hosted on Pandorabots free service. To give it better 'awarness' of Second Life we have developed a set of keywords that are programmed into the AIML, but are parsed by the script to complete function calls. We have also started working on a Second Life specific aiml file, but it will always be a work in progress because of its importance.
We have setup several webpages detailing our SL Chatbot. http://www.wetwarehacker.com/secondlifechatbot.html |

another use for libsecondlife.Proxy
you could easily have a .net program do the parsing & chatting... it would have to be a local machine thing, so that you have complete control... would be able to do the chatting as well as handle any of IM's that come in. _____________________
