what do you guys think about being able to have something like a cape or hood you can create in appearance? It would work kinda like a dress and move and stretch as your av moves. I know it sux trying to make these with prims, they never fit and always stick out when you move.

There's a proposal already available on this. Vote at the link below. There were 55 votes last time I checked -- we really need more support.

Not that long ago LL hired the programmer responsible for the capes in City of Heroes so maybe they'll put him to work on improving SL's clothing system
Capes would be cool. So would better skirts. Right now there's nothing they can really do to improve skirts because of limitations in the engine... any vertice can only be affected by two bones on the same branch of the skeletal hierarchy which is why all the stretch on skirts happens along the center row of polygons. The skirt vertices have to be attached to one leg or the other rather than blended between both legs. Capes would probably be limited by similar issues. Maybe with 2.0 we'll see some improvements in that area. I haven't heard anything about it being on LL's radar though. Anyway, capes would be cool! ![]() _____________________

I had heard the rumor that we might be getting a cape clothing item since LL hired the person from CoH who had implemented capes for that game. However, I asked about capes in Cory's last town hall, and he said they are not currently working on them. He said that particular employee was now working on some aspect of SL's game engine.
Who knows, though; if there is enough interest in adding a cape to our available clothing items, I'll bet we could get the Lindens to place it on a feature "to-do" list. ![]() _____________________

Not just capes.

It would be nice to see other items as well, like loose clothing that can fall from a woman's breasts. Everything now has to be tight. There are no open loose fit shirts. We can't really make bra style halters that incorporae a straight flared bodice without doing a prim for it. Peignoirs would be lovely if we could actually make them. Even open terry open robes. Basically any piece of clothing that flows from the shoulders, lower bust, hip, waist, etc.

In order to do what you want they'd have to make the shirt a seperate mesh object instead of just part of the avatar body mesh as it is now, and it would have the same problem as skirts. The vertices of the shirt mesh would likely have to sit quite a way off the body mesh so you'd gain 50 pounds putting a shirt on, hehe. It'll be interesting to see how avatar features evolve over the next year or two._____________________

I hear the guy who did capes in CoH is working on boobie jubble.. I think that trumps capes TBH ;0
Ok enough for that. I would love to see capes in SL with hoods ;0 _____________________
