Hi,

I work for http://www.secondlottery.com a grid wide lottery system for Second Life.

We are looking for business owners to take a ticket sale terminal to sell tickets. You get to make 10% of each ticket sale and if you sell the winning Jackpot ticket then you get 5% of the total Jackpot! Also if you get the to be the first 25 terminals, you will be listed on the front page of http://www.secondlottery.com. Huge benefits with all this.

This lottery was launched this week. Need your feedback on this business proposal as well. We are hoping to introduce multiple tickets in the near future so the customer has choices. Currently we only sell one form of ticket. Jackpot is expected to grow into millions.

Thank you.

Indeed. We had our first draw last night and the jackpot has grown ever since. We are located in well over 25 different remote places in SL. We are still looking for more partners to take on our terminals. This is a WIN-WIN situation for both of us.

Very cool, is it too late to get a terminal?

Very nice Homer. This lottery machine is great and I can't wait until the drawing. I think this is a very inventive idea for a Second Life business and Homer is a very nice guy to work with. I hope to see this business take off. :)

Kepster, we have many more terminals to give away. Please contact me in-game to get them setup. However, the offer to add the business names to the Second Lottery web page will be running out shortly. I believe I only have couple of those spots left.

Seems to me this entire thread is just an exaggerated advertisement (actually something you are not supposed to do on the forums here).

Also, this is startlingly familiar to the "Hippie Pay" scam machines you see illegally set up all over second life, and the pyramid schemes (also illegal) set up all over SL.

Why LL allows this kind of rampant "gambling" online when there is no way to check on the integrity of the code, the "seller" or the machine is beyond me.

Ventures like this are no different from a three card monte game on the corner of the worst street in town in terms of the confidence one needs to participate and anyone who puts money into it deserves to lose it, as they most certainly will.

LOL - you must be new to SL Jeremy! Second Life has gambling all over AND has tons of Lottery machines available (several of them claiming to pay out over L$1,000,000) - this is just one more - certainly NOT a new concept as some are claiming here. Hippie Pay, a scam? I've used them a few times myself and unless you enter in the information too fast (because you're trying to cheat of course), they will pay out. What Hippie Pay does is not a new concept at all and is nothing that special. A lot of companies pay a lot of money for surveys. If you're higher up in IT, people pay $50, or sometimes even $100 (like my lucky boss last week) to conduct a phone survey of 20 minutes. LOL - so to me Hippiepay has done something really smart. Instead of paying a lot of RL money, they're only paying you a fraction of what these surveys are worth in SL currency. Heck - seems like a very smart concept to me and most definately not a pyramid scheme. Am I involved with them? Lol - besides the fact that I have a machine on my property no, so don't get any idea here - hehe.

Now about the integrity of the code. First of all it would be unfair to assume that Linden Lab would have to check out that code. Lol - I think we all know they have better things to do like keeping the grid stable and fast - besides, who checks the integrity of the code on all online Gambling sites? HOWEVER - you do bring up a VERY valid point here. I'm not a big gambler at all - but sometimes when I see a machine, I put L$10 just to see if it will pay me out. Now this can be pure coincidence BUT I've noticed that if you play a machine in a casino the first time, it will pay you out - lol - so yes I only gamble once at each casion just to make sure that I can keep saying that I've never lost at a casino! hehe -- pure luck? Could be --- but we all know that casino's in RL and in SL are there to make money and it would be logic to make it payout the first time just so you would stay there.

And since we're on the subject --- what REALLY (not really but still) scares me are the banks that are in Second Life where you can deposit your money and they give you interest. They have ATM available where you can deposit your money and get money out BUT --- what will happen if one day they say --- nah - I'm quitting SL? LL will not provide you with their RL information so you have nothing go after. Just something to think about ... (or not).

Yo

I assume these 'terminals' are 'no-looky' at the code inside them..

I would be interested but I would have to see the code in the machine I would 'host' first. I tired this with one 'we are to good to be true' scam artist (which I can't name here due to rules) that had me set up one of his 'machines' and that machine started making 'small withdrawls' (I doubt anyone would even notice them if they didn't have maticulous records like me) from my account that it wasn't supposed to. I assume the scam went on the "If I take a dollar from everyone that uses the machine and the one hosting it, whose gonna notice" belief.

I'm in NO WAY ACCUSING SecondLottery of being a scam or any type of dishonesty, but since this last deal, I advise people to think twice about putting devices in thier business that they have no idea of the internal workings of them. Maybe just me being paranoid.

Cheers

Very interesting how this has changed...

Thank you for all your feedback, suggestions and concerns. Interesting how things could be looked at from others point of view. Second Lottery is not a scam and it is certainly not a get rich quick deal. We sell tickets to people and they buy tickets just like in real world to win lottery.

With your concerns on our minds, we have changed the way our terminals used to work. You get to own our terminals. We will just give you the terminals, you sell tickets, you collect payments, you keep your share and then send us our share. This way you can see each and every ticket being sold from your terminals. We have a group called Second Lottery Hosts, we share everything with them. Therefore hosts can talk to each other and know who is doing what. This way the terminal hosts can make sure that we are not scamming the system.

We are working to improve our system in every way possible to gain trust. You are welcome to provide feedback and suggestions for me to get there.

If you are interested in getting your own terminal, please go our office in:

Thank you.
