Corona, how well do you think invite keys work? I'd been considering building one but I was afraid it would engender a sort of 'old boys club' mentality, and could stifle growth. Can any registered member issue unlimited invite keys or is it a sort of rationed process?

From: Kristian Ming Corona, how well do you think invite keys work? I'd been considering building one but I was afraid it would engender a sort of 'old boys club' mentality, and could stifle growth. Can any registered member issue unlimited invite keys or is it a sort of rationed process? Our system is based upon participation. So, a member earns invitations for being active in the site. We decided to go this route when we started one year ago for several reasons. Prime was being able to monitor our growth and determine our server needs. This way, we ensure optimal perfomance and that we can handle the load. Also, when we started we were small and a bit of a renegade bunch. We wanted to bring in people who were capable of thinking and having logical discussion. We are not interested in being police or having a bunch of numbnuts running around. It definitly keeps our growth in check. But, that is what we want in odrer to maintain the atmosphere we have. As for the 'old boys club' perception, there are those who perceived it this way when we split from the community to do this project. Unfortunatly, you cannot convince everyone of your motives. Hope that helps! I would love to see you around our site if you so choose
