Hi everyone,

I wanted to let you all know about the exciting changes that have happened recently to Talk Second Life.com

Firstly, our Verification Service for premium members has been renovated and replaced with a more secure and effective (albeit manual) process. Our new process entails a phone verification and secure, on-site private storage of your private user information.

To find out more about our verification service, please visit: www.talksecondlife.com and click "Upgrade".

As a result of the cost of the new service, we were forced to raise our price. We still believe that our new price of $14.99 is still a great value to our members.

Thank you for all your constructive criticism in the past regarding our service. With your input we implemented a new solution to ensure a more accurate verification of our members.

Secondly, TalkSecondLife will be undergoing a minor facelift with the addition of a new frontpage. This frontpage will allow our users quick and easy access to the latest SL business news and headlines before entering the forum.

So stop by and check out all the good things that are happening at TSL at http://www.talksecondlife.com!

Hi Collette,

Verification of RL name and basic information.

In short, verification gives your customers some confidence that they are dealing with an honest, genuine person who has taken steps to verify their identity through an independent third-party. This is done on websites all over where money is exchanged (including places like Paypal) and now we have made this service available in a SL friendly format.

When your customers have confidence in your identity, you gain a competitive advantage over your competition.

This service was started to try and help spur some of the fraud problems residents have run into with shady business owners who falsify contact information. Our third party service offers an extra layer of protection for you and your clients.

Hope that helps :)

So you are basically going to compete with Integrity on Identity Verifcation?

We believe that we are offering a similar product with a similar function but we don't believe we are accomplishing the same goal. To begin with our product offers more security than does "Payment Information on File". However, we see that Integrity's product may require a lot of information....information that most people are not comfortable giving over the internet - to anyone.

TSL Verification offers a slightly lower level of security than Integrity, albeit with a quick and easy process. Best of all, our service does not require you to divulge very personal information.

Moreover, the purpose of our systems differs compared to Integrity. Integrity is designed to block users who are not verified from reaching "restricted content". While we are offering an "Identity Verification" service as well, we are offering it for the purpose of building trust and fostering relationships. Certainly there are users who do not wish to go through Integrity's process and who are completely legitimate, honest users. Our non-invasive ID system will give those users peace of mind without the risk of losing vital personal information.

Furthermore, LL says: "Residents will provide a few simple details about their identity – generally, name, date of birth, and address. Additionally, Residents will be asked to provide specific identifying information, such as, for example, a driver’s license number, passport or national ID card number, or the last four digits of a social security number (this is dependent on where geographically the Resident is based)." Our belief is that there should be no requirement of divulging passport, ID card, or Social Security numbers in order to verify users. We do not require this information.

While LL says (referring to Integrity) "Verification will initially be free; as we roll out the system we expect there to be a nominal fee for Premium members, and a larger fee for people with Basic memberships."

Our non-invasive indentification verification does charge a service fee (of $14.99 per year) which helps to cover costs and further development of TalkSecondLife and our services.
