Hi All... Skidz Tweak here...

I been working on a new site for sl for a long while now, and I have just released in to the public in the last week or so.

Note: To get all these feature right now you have to use the free hud (link below) but that will change soon.

What is gridaverse? Gridaverse right now, is a great map site for second life. It includes:
* Detailed maps of secondlife
- including parcel lines
- land height info
- even how many prims are on the sim
- A lot more sims then slurl has images for
* Detailed search for sim name
- Better results than the map window
- Search for the sim san in sl, then on gridaverse, you will see what I mean
* Land for sale search
- You can search with a lot more detail
- <> price
- <> size
- <> per meter
- Title and description key words
- Slide show through all the result
- Able to see parcel lines
- This makes it so nice to see all the 16 meter spots next to the spot for sale
- or if it really is by the road
* Favorites organizing
- Add folders
- Add favorite spots
- got to those favorites
- you can even delete them :)

Remember, right now, you have to use the hud to get these features. There is a land for sale alpha search available to everyone right now without the hud, but it is slower then the hud version, and not as rich in features. This is still a work in progress :)

Hud on Slexchange:
http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=782386

You can also get it at all the Skidz Partz stores for free.
http://www.skidzpartz.com/storelocations

Here is a video I made for the favorites (didn't have search tab then):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dluUZlM1Bk4

While it does lack a lot of features.... the framework that I have developed is going to allow me to add a lot more features, quickly, so check it often for updates.

Future plan:
* Next week I plan on releasing GPS feature. Of course it tracking your position is always an iffy subject in sl... so it will be a check box to turn on and off, and will not track your position when off.

* More search feature. I am working on at creating a much better search engine as well for finding places in secondlife. This framework is still under developement but it has started.

* Plans to do the same to all the new opensim metaverses opening up as well

* There are a couple other things under the pipe that I can't talk about just yet, but they will be kewl too :)

Skidz I gotta hand it to you, this is a great site. Simple, easy - and really handy for someone like me.

I noticed that the scanning missed parceling and terrain in a few small areas - minor stuff! If there was a way to redirect your bot back to re-scan, I'd love it.

For a specific helpful example, Caledon Steam SkyCity seems to be missing the parceling data (it's parceled extensively) and seems to have one little square of terrain undefined.

Could it have been us? That region has one of the most heavily built-up prim constructions at the hub - perhaps too much data all at once, and the bot left before it finished loading?

Another wishlist item - at top zoom, it's pulling some older terrain data - which is 100% understandable. What might give us "data confidence" is a date tied to the last updated scan for the "big map" - maybe just a "Last updated DD MM YY" in the corner or something like that?

Brilliant start! If you ever take data overlays, I can give you tons of "continent" info too.

Thx Desmond...

I set that sim to index again... we will see if that gets it... but yea... the bots are not perfect... I actually have them set to not download any prim data at all, so the number of prims should not matter... (except parcel prim counts) I have started working on an in world box... that will keep a sim up to date... but right now it only does the land height, still working on parcels... but its good... it even does check sums so it does not upload the same data twice and uses no lag at all... take 4 hours to look at an entire sim, slowly...

By the way... I set the your sim to index... and its already done... drawn... and uploaded... have it completely automated :)... Makes me so happy to see that worked so perfectly :).... you may have to clear you cache... as the image folder is set to cache for 1 day. Might just add a index this sim button :)...

I try my best to keep the main land sims up to date with differential information from the land search directory's, but I only index the other sims once a month... as it takes a 5 days for 28 bots to do 24000 sims

I appreciate your feed back... and anymore you have.... I like the idea of the date stamp... might have to do that one... would be easy enough... and yes... over lay data is planned in the future... I would love to have something... when anyone could place a push pim in... but you know people would abuse that... so yea... I would appreciate that... but.. I am not there just yet :)... Maybe in a month or so... I need to finish what I got started first

Thx Again

lol... it just told me I included to many smily faces in my post lol... I guess I need to stop grinning from ear to ear :)

Gridaverse update released
07-26-2008 23:51
Hey all,

You can read more details here on the blog:
http://blog.skidzpartz.com/Default.aspx

New on gridaverse:
Now create GVURLs - links from the web to sl
On page GVURL generator and previewer
Search tab is now public so you don't need the hud
Update bubble formatting
Added index this sim button (this takes 24 hours to happen)
Added Land for sale link on current sim on most bubbles
Restructured the site some but all old huds still work

Here is the question I expect the most:
Why use gvurl over slurl??
1. Its faster
2. Better formatting
3. Linden labs need to work on sl, not a map page
4. Your helping out an individual, not a mindless company
5. Its just to easy to switch not to, just change slurl to gvurl
6. Your helping build a better search engine by useing them
7. Come on... I mean... come on... :)
8. Below you can compare the two and see for yourself

We have a lot more planned, and updates will happen weekly. So keep checking on it, and feedback is really welcomed... best place to put it is on my blog :)...

Don't take my word for it... compare:
http://slurl.com/secondlife/San/128/128/128/?img=http%3A//Gridaverse.com/images/gridaverselogo128.png&title=Compare%20these%20two%20urls&msg=I%20am%20using%20this%20as%20a%20comparision%20to%20slurl%20and%20gvurl.%20The%20page%20should%20load%20faster%2C%20and%20you%20info%20should%20format%20much%20nicer

Oh I always wanted to make this overview:
http://www.screenshots.cc/upload/9a8c1581.gif

seeing all parcel borders on an amlost complete map is great.

feature request, show parcel settings:
- if owher is a linden mark as "road/hub"
- else if it allows building and scripting for anyone mark as "sandbox".
- else if it allows object entry and scripting for anyone mark as "path".
- else if it restricts acess in any way mark as "blocked".

This is valuable information for any vehicle, even if it is not very reliable or outdated.

They have just to ask
08-02-2008 05:01
They just have to ask to have there sims placed onto the no index list. Not to mention that there are measure already in place to keep a sim private.

Just a follow up
08-02-2008 05:32
Just following up with that last question... There are currently 27791 sim on secondlife, and I do not index 4608 of them because they are private. There are 18 sims where the owners contact me asking not to be indexed.

But keep in mind, that your sim is loosing potential traffic :) I have also been negotiating with a bunch of different sites to use GVURL.com instead of SLURL.com

If its the bots you fear, then I will try and put your mind at ease by telling you that we only index non main land sims once a month, and in most cases takes less than 5 min, and I have done my best to try and make them as discrete as possible, going to huge lengths. They cause almost no lag because they don't even download prims, only look at the land information.

That all said.. I do hope you don't ask me not to index your sims. I have conducted the site with the up most dignity. I store no personal information, unless you use the in world hud to store your favorites, but even for that, I am not recording any names at all. My database holds not one second life name. But to be fully honest I believe that will change in the future depending on the services I add, but i won't store them if I don't have to. I want to keep the database small and tight. I have also ran the site with complete transparency, give my contact information on every single bot, and posting information in my blog, twitter, and here on the forums.

If you want more info feel free to visit my blog at http://blog.skidzpartz.com or sign up for the twitter at http://twitter.com/skidz

LL makes it public anyways.
to hide it from both you can HIDE the region from anyone but your exceptions, it wont show in the map, not in search, and will not be visible from adjanced regions for others.

The singulrity already has you:
the large region group on the southern center just got moved there this week, therefore it shows twice on your actual map, also as an echo from last week on the lower right end of the map.

- fix the missing data pieces from all mainland.
- theres a lot of new (roughly 4 weeks old) private regions missing in the north.

Missing Sims on mainland
08-02-2008 19:45
I checked into the missing sims on the mainland, they are sims, owned by one person, and public access is turned off.. Example Redstone, and Polimo.

I am sure they will open up some time.

Update Released
08-04-2008 01:00
Just released an update to http://Gridaverse.com

Big thx to Ollj, who brought most of the errors fixed in this release to my attention

Still have to make a missing sim image for sims my bots can't get to, but besides that I think its pretty stable right now.

I made a post with the full details of the update on my blog:

Updated... and two new blog enties
08-08-2008 11:54
I hope your all not getting tired of these updates :)

I just released a new Feature on http://Gridaverse.com

Sim info pages. They list out all the parcel details for a sim. Lots of small features now, lots of big features in the future. Here is an example of one:
http://gridaverse.com/sims/secondlife/1024/917/

For a complete list of the update feel free to read my blog entry on it at:
http://blog.skidzpartz.com/post/2008/08/08/Yet-another-Gridaverse-Update.aspx

Big thx to Dimitrio Lewis. Dimitrio has some of the best SL pic on Flickr and was kind enough to let me use them as background images. Here is his flickr page:
http://flickr.com/photos/dimitriolewis/

Oh... I also wrote a kewl blog entry on how to trick your computer into going to GVURL.com (aka gridaverse.com) instead of SLURL.com. Like I said in the artical, I might be the only one on earth right now that likes gridaverse.com enough to do this, but I thought I would share:
