I have been accused by a certain article publishing directory of having mature content in my site! What a load of bolix. What do you think? Do I have mature content in my site?

There is an article with the word "wh**e" in it. And it has the word "wh***g". And there's one with the pe**s an v****a words. I do talk about the sex industry and how to have sex in Second Life. But I don't show any pornographic images so where is the mature content? Don't these people teach their kids where babies come from? The IP shows they are from Green Bay, no wonder, they got rid of Brett Farve too the buggers.

I love Brett Farve, I think he's the sexiest man alive.

Oh hold on, there is one article that has the word "lesbian" in it. That could be it. What do you think? IM me or send me a message or post it here and I will post your comments in my site. But only if I like them LOL

Seriously though, if the consensus is that my site has mature content I will have to put a 18+ warning on it.

I took a quick look at your site.

While the rest of your site looks pretty benign to me, I wouldn't want someone looking over my shoulder while reading the 'Sex & Love' section at work.
Sorry :p

Just an idea: Its not so much that your site is a mature site, but that you have a *section* that contains some mature content. Maybe throw up a disclaimer next to just the "Sex & Love" link like (Warning: Mature), so people know that particular link has some racy content inside?

Edited to add:

You don't have to show images for it to be mature content. Text alone can be mature. Just as an example, would you want your pre-teen child reading this text-only site?:

I read the section also . Got a kick out of the read , having spent many years working in adult clubs RL. Personally I wouldn't care who read it over my shoulder or where and it definitely is for a mature reader. But in all fairness , there's way more of a chance of a minor accessing (on purpose or even by accident) real graphically mature content on the internet before they'de even come close to finding the tiny non-graphical article in question.

Peace , and some people take stuff way to far sometimes.
P.S.: There are however , more respectable terms to use when speaking about workers in the sex trade.
Personally , I prefer to call em girls. xoxo

I searched, I did and I couldnt find anything on your EXCELLENT site adult at all.

Even kids need to learn how to make money in RL. Interestingly I wonder if SL is a good training ground for RL in certain circumstances?

I think its great that you guys love the site, and my post wasn't meant to be a negative editorial at all. But I worry you may be doing Mujer a disservice by lulling her into a false sense of security by suggesting there's no mature content anywhere on her site. We're all responsible adults, right?

Discussing things like "How to Become a Whore in Second Life" in detail may not be pornographic, but it is a Mature concept that may upset parents who found their younger children reading about it. ;)

Unless you feel that SL might be a good training ground for kids to learn how to make money as a virtual whore... then all bets are off :D

Thank you for the input. Yes, I am starting to think that perhaps a PG type warning in that section is the way to go.

Sorry about the politically incorrect terms I use, especially if you have worked in that area, I do understand that someone might take offense.

I get the feeling you're not quite getting the issue at hand. Containing articles about being a virtual prostitute, regardless of the legality of it, is pretty much universally a mature subject. Saying it's a PG subject is downplaying it beyond a reasonable level.

While SL doesn't strictly follow ESRB ratings (heck, sometimes we wish we *did* know what they followed), they make for a decent guide in determining what's PG versus Mature versus Adult:

From: ESRB

www.esrb.org/ratings/ratings_guide.jsp
===TEEN===
Titles rated T (Teen) have content that may be suitable for ages 13 and older. Titles in this category may contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language.

===MATURE===
Titles rated M (Mature) have content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older. Titles in this category may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language.

===ADULTS ONLY===
Titles rated AO (Adults Only) have content that should only be played by persons 18 years and older. Titles in this category may include prolonged scenes of intense violence and/or graphic sexual content and nudity.

Based on the descriptions involved, calling it a PG article is completely off-base. At best it's squarely a mature topic, while I wouldn't be that surprised if many people felt it was an Adult topic.

Either way, PG it isn't.

thank you everyone for the input!
I've decided to put a warning on that particular section. I very much doubt whether it will stop unsupervised kids from going in and reading it, but at least it will have a nice red text for any parents to see if they walk past them while they are reading it, which they should as the internet is no longer a place a parent can let kids roam in unsupervised.
