Some SL residents have created the Second Life News Network (www.slnn.com), a Web portal offering daily stories covering in-world news, education, humor and entertainment. It's a grass-roots project designed and maintained by Second Life residents. The official launch is Sunday, October 29. While the site went up a few days before www.secondlife.reuters.com, SLNN differs from Reuters in that it is not backed by a corporation, but rather by energetic volunteers and aspiring writers. Advertising is accepted to help pay for the Web hosting fees. The site encourages experienced news writers to apply and join the SL Network News team. All are welcome to surf over and browse the site.
