Linden Lab contacted us about a month ago and asked us if we were interested in creating custom profiles that would fit in their new web tab they were about to release --- and so we did! We've been done for weeks since they were unsure about the release week but now we've been told that the web tab will be added to your profile in Second Life next week (November 15). By simply adding a URL to your web tab in Second Life, visitors of your profile can now view your profile within Second Life and that without any work on your end! We automatically resize all images if they wouldn't fit on your profile as we don't want ugly horizontal scrollbars. Also, all links to second life locations will WORK! So if you have favorite second life places listed in your profile, people can simply click on them and they will automatically get transported to the right location. And yes they can view all your pictures, all your blogs, they can leave comments, and so on. The ONLY real difference between viewing your profile on the Web Tab in Second Life or on a browser is that it actually fits on the Second Life tab! Yep everything that is showing in your regular profile will also be available in your mini Second Life web tab profile. More information on how to set up your Mini Profile on Second Life (after the November 15 release) can be found here: http://www.SLProfiles.com/secondlifeminiprofiles.asp! You can either link to your entire profile, just to your blog, or only to your comments page (which allow visitors to leave comments to your profile). If you feel that anything is missing, please let us know.

and I forgot to mention here as well that you can also ONLY link to your pictures if you don't want to link to your entire profile. I've also JUST added photo albums to our site which will allow you to organize your photos better. And yes - if you look at your photos with the mini Second Life Browser, you'll notice that all images will automatically resize if they wouldn't fit in the Second Life mini browser as there is nothing as annoying as horizontal scrollbars! More information on how to link to your pictures only can be found on our site...

blogHUD profiles
11-12-2006 09:20
YES! Novemeber the 15th you say? Cool! I was told they we not going to do it at all, at one stage. Nice job! All blogHUD users also get an automatic profile page by going to http://my.bloghud.com/FirstnameLastname/profileeg: http://my.bloghud.com/kozfarina/profileFits lovely. The blog posts are fed into the list on the left, which when clicked on pull the map location to the point where the post was made. There will be a TP link coming soon at this point, just like on bloghud.com Also, you'll see a link saying snapzilla pix - clicking this shows a nice slideshow of that users latest posts to snazilla. blogHUD pix will appear here too, now I have image posts finally working to bloghud.com. yay! More feeds and features to come, once we can fully test what we've already got. Last time I checked, Flash movies loaded, but buttons within them didn't. I hope they fix that. Very good to see these webtabs supporting ajax.

Checked out your blog hud page -- good job! Always nice to see the work of creative souls among us AND -- there are plenty on Second Life. We (SLProfiles.com) are working on some more features (just added the photo albums last night) but more updates are coming. Unfortunately live video doesn't work at the moment. I hope that changes... Can you buy SL merchandise from this Web Tab page?
If not, why not?

Hi, That would require LL adding some custom Javascript 'calls' to LSL from this embedded browser. But I seriously cant see that happening, due to potential security concerns. Maybe, once we move to Mono, we'll be able to write javascript/vbscript which compiles down to LSL. That might provide a means to create better UI possibilities like talking to objects/or huds which can do shopping etc.

Wow - after waiting for weeks - you'll finally be able to start using our mini profiles in your web tab tomorrow. Exciting isn't it? If you haven't done so yet, make sure to create a profile at www.slprofiles.com so you can add your mini profile to your web tab after the new Second Life update! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on www.slprofiles.com (my username is admin)
