Are you 18 years or older?

Do you use the Internet, cell phones, PDAs, iPods, and other digital
technologies?

If you answered YES to these questions, you may be eligible to
participate in an Internet use research study.

The purpose of this research study is to examine different patterns and
forms of Internet and digital technology use, understand how they are
related to sense of community, and examine their impact on well being.
You will complete a questionnaire about your Internet and digital
technology use, your sense of community, and well being. This
questionnaire will take about 45 minutes to complete.

For participating, your name will be entered into a raffle to receive an
I-pod shuffle!

Adults, 18 years and over, are eligible.

This study is being conducted by the Department of Planning, Policy, and
Design at the University of California, Irvine, California, USA.

The survey can be taken here:

I would like to thank everyone that has filled out our survey. We are continuing to collect survey information and we appreciate everyone's input. We have input everyone's name in our iPod shuffle raffle that participated and we will be giving away 3 iPod shuffles in late October or early November.

Please feel free to email me with any questions at my University.

Best,

Want To Meet People & Build Or Buy Billboard

Hi,

I would like to thank everyone that has participated in our survey. I'm in the process of getting our survey inworld and was wondering what was the best way to make that happen. Any comments would be great - I'm very new to SL and don't have much time. I think a billboard is a good idea.

I would also love to have an inworld tour if someone wants to show me around.

Best

First, I want to thank you for being one of the rare survey takers to post on these forums that follows proper human subject research consent policies.

As to how to import this into SL, I'd recommend that you not. SL's facilities for input, particularly of confidential information are so limited that if you were able to write an LSL script to handle the input, no player would be able to figure out how to use it properly.

It would be far better to just use llLoadUrl()* in a kiosk which would just open up your existing web survey. Please be aware that there have been a number of "give us your e-mail address to spam in exchange for L$" systems set up that you can expect players to be generally wary of arbitrary web site links. It might be helpful to have a "click here for an explanatory notecard" separate from a "click here to visit the survey site" button.

As for placing the kiosks, that's a toughy. Purchasing bare parcels and sticking a kiosk in it will likely get you no traffic, and I suspect most merchants probably wouldn't be willing to virtually, virtually host a 45 minute survey. I'd contact "Pathfinder Linden" for suggestions as he's the one Linden I know most interested in educational activities.

Good luck.

added: Oops I missed the "I'm very new to SL and don't have much time." bit. Historically speaking, people hate seeing that you want 45 minutes of their time but can't be bothered to spend time in the world that you are soliciting. You might want to backpedal on that one.
