“I knew something was wrong when they said they couldn’t afford a headset” fumed Georgina, “some of them make several hundred real dollars a week. Others complained about being deaf-mutes.”

I think the point is that alot of the "lesbians" in SL are guys, and don't want to use voice for obvious reasons. LMAO!

(rolled eyes) I can see the headlines now:

Closeted E-Transvestites Speak Out.

Or the t-shirt campaigns:

Silence = Doubt ?

“They don’t have to use it if they don’t want, we don’t need them.” ~Cory Linden

if that quote is accurate and not out of context, it's a little troubling. Of course Ive had the feeling that they (LL) dont much care that people are fed up with one or more of the many valid reasons and leaving SL. They think (I suppose) that there will be another to take those people's places. Well perhaps, but eventually that very attitude will help bring about the end of SL along with the host of other issues and bugs that seem to become commonplace these days.

WHAT? A guy pretending to be a girl, they wouldn't do that would they. LMAO

Ok, on a only slightly more serious note; Is "lesbian" the proper word to describe to guy who likes girls pretending to be a girl who likes girls.

I wasn't excited about voice at all when it was annouced. Most likely I won't use it a lot and mainly only with close friends. I did give it a try for the first time last night. I spoke with two lovely SL ladies, and was pleased to find that their voices sounded like lovely RL ladies.

I hope there should have been a "to" at the end of that sentence.

Actually the story was exactly what I thought it would be. :)

Most of them call themselve lesbians in-world because they're hetero RL and not interested in cybering with boys. Thing is, most RL lesbians in SL do not put "I'm a lesbian, no men plz!" in their profiles.

Sad really. It reminds me of the Sex and the City episode where Charlotte toyed with lesbianism, but wasn't allowed to move to Wonder Woman's island because she wasn't a native. :D

It's satire. Like Jonathon Swift, like The Onion.

No, no, no! A cardinal rule of satire is to never let on that it's satirical. It's much more satisfying to see people's reactions when they think it's authentic. (When people do it's often a good measure of how indicting the commentary really is.)

You are right. I've been getting the most horrendous IM's. Maybe that in a weird way is good.
