SL Hockey is Second Life's premier spectator team sport. We are located at Jericho Hill. We're getting ready for Season 3, which begins in late May/early June, and are sending out an invitation to all ice lovers to please skip on over and check us out. Anyone over 18 may join the league. Search groups for SL Hockey and join on up (not Second Life Hockey League but just SL Hockey). We have a beautiful rink with a scripted game and all equipment and uniforms are available at the rink for $1.

In Season 3, we have some added excitement of 2 new teams who will be European-time friendly for games and will play each other. We currently have 4 teams in the North American time zones. At the end of the season, the winning teams from both the NA and the Euro sections will play each other in a showdown.

Visit Jericho Hill and read the notecard inside the equipment box for more information, or IM Jack Belvedere, league commissioner. You can also visit our website at http://slhockey.teamopolis.com for more information.

This is really a great event. Are those players are real time players? :)

Well, it's open to everyone, we do have some folks who are current or ex- real time hockey players. No NHL stars that I know of, hehe. But many of us have played some. But no RL experience is really neccessary. The game follows RL play to the extent that is possible. We have some of our own rules, like penalties for "Flying" and being inside the crease at all unless you're a goalie.

This season, we have games on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11AM (for European teams) and 5-7:30 pm (for North American teams). There's also scattered practices, scrimmages and other events held, and just about any time you wander up there, there's probably someone to practice with.

We have 6 teams. European teams are the Pandas and Ravens. North American teams are the Cobras, Moose, Whales and Wolves. The Moose are off to a head start this season, but everyone else is starting to close the gap!

The SLCN films and shows our games on its website on Thursday nights. The announcer, Vox Mullen, will impress you, sounds like the real deal.

If you're interested in joining the league, you can IM me in game, or go to the website http://slhockey.teamopolis.com
Where you can find a lot of information on the league including schedules, team rosters, stats for games, scoring leaders, etc. Everyone who wants to play needs to sign up for the website. (stats are recorded that way) All the equipment is available free at the rink or on the SLX market.

The league is open to anyone and we also welcome regular fans. It strokes our egos :D You can message me for some 1-on-1 orientation with the equipment any time.
