SLNN reporter Misty McConachie covered the grand opening of a private home that an SL resident spent $3000 U.S. to have built. The gala opening saw guests decked out in designer fashion. While the event was meant to showcase the talents of the architects, the underlying question is: does this woman's home raise the bar in architectural design for private residences? Will others try to outdo this house in a race to get their home onto the pages of a virtual Architectural Digest? Will the dot.commers, hedge fund managers, and other high net-worth individuals treat Second Life as the next hot place to spend all that disposable income? Ultimately, will Second Life become a stratified society, where the "haves" hang out in different areas than the "have nots"?
