If you want to keep updated on what's popular (traffic wise), I have created a website called cleeker.com. You can find it here: http://cleeker.comIt also has a graph and some stats (more to come) for all blogs, as well as just a full list of the last 100 recent entries for the entire SL blogosphere, not just the popular ones. I am looking for constructive feedback on layout, so post here or you can use the suggest a feature on the webpage. Also, post your favorite blog in case I missed one. Cheers, Iron Perth.

Hmm. It seems to be having some problems with feeds that use Feedburner. They're all listed as coming from the same site i.e. "feeds.feedburner.com" which is, I suppose, true, but not very useful.

Is there an ordinalmalaprop.com based feed?
Formatting text when you're not sure what it is going to look like is a bit challenging, so you have to come up with some rules to hopefully tame it a bit .. I figured going by domains was best, and it mostly works out.
Thanks for letting me know.
Cheers,
Iron.

There is a feed directly from the site, but I try to use one from feedburner so that if I change hosts, people don't have to resubscribe - plus, feedburner offers all sorts of options which would be a pain to do manually.

I've added the author, I think that helps a bit: http://cleeker.com/cleeker/second_life/all.html

Could you explain how you get the information about a given site's traffic? I thought site statistics could only be published by the owner of a site.

Just to be picky...
On your detailed statistics page you have the data arranged in three columns at the bottom.
The order however, should go top to bottom and *then* left to right, not the other way around like you have it now. Unless this is supposed to be an array, then you should have some grapic indication of that like lines or boxes around your data.
Given that it's two column information though, it's not really grid and should read top to bottom, left to right.

Hey Prokofy, I use the traffic fed through the site. So if you click on a link, I record which link you've clicked on and feed it into a database.
I do a number of things in order to ensure that it isn't being gamed and have a bunch more still planned. I suspect it will always be a struggle, of course, but hopefully the end result will be useful enough.
Jeremy, thanks for the feedback. I might continue with the left to right approach (kinda like reading a book), but I'll see if I can create more visual cues so the current format isn't as confusing.

Hey Iron, I assume this is an aggregation site? If so how does one give you a feed that's *only* SL posts? Note it's an independent Wordpress install. My weblog is not strictly SL, and so don't have it listed anywhere SL-side; Its other main topic is Uru, though I've found another potential subject that search engines are hitting my site for (also not SL). I also post using my RL name, not my SL one. --Alan

Ok, so what you're saying is that the traffic statistics shown there in the list aren't the actual traffic statistics in general for those sites, ranking them by their general, public traffic.
Instead, it's the ranking of their traffic *from your page* -- whoever comes to your page and clicks on whatever they chose.
That would explain then, something inexplicable like lordfly.com being so high on the list.

Adding a blog
10-04-2006 07:56
Nice site. Great site, even. How do I add my blog to the list, though. The 'Add your blog' in the top right corner doen't do anything. Should I use the 'suggest a blog' feature?
Many thanx, Mordecai

Hey Sensual, What version / browser are you using? If you have some thoughts on how you'd like to see it better arranged I am always open for constructive feedback .. Frans, I am reworking the traffic graphs / tables. I am trying to arrange it to be traffic roughly divided by the number of posts, a sort of signal to noise ratio. As for what I define as traffic, it is basically the number of unique visitors that check out a blog entry. I do not count multiple hits from the same IP address. Mordecai, The suggest a blog form is at the bottom of the page. I have hooked up the link at the top (sorry about that) so it should click down to the bottom of the page now. Alan, The best way is to simply give a feed. I think secretlair has an example of how they tag their posts and then have different feeds for different tags. Pretty useful. Thanks for all the feedback folks. If anyone has anything more to add, suggestions for a more useful layout or things they'd like to see, please let me know. I would like to make this so everyone can quickly see what is going on in the blogosphere for SecondLife.
