I would like to know what you think about holding an Expo in Vegas. If I get enough positive feedback, I will need someone to develop the website www.SecondLifeExpo.com and I will look for users to spread the word and help organize the event. All your comments and feedback are welcome.

Yup what happens here, stays here - usually out in the desert.

If it gets off the ground that should be fun - I live here.

No one is sleeping on our couch. Don't even ask!
Well, okay, but only if you can make breakfast.

Otherwise, Cool deal!

I would absolutrly be interested in attending. Unfortunantly, my last trip out there will be memorial day weekend, and I don't think you would be able to get it together by then lol, good luck! Maybe next time =)

perhaps..

do you have a time-frame in mind?

i would sugest making it fairly distant from the SanFran SLCC, in order to be available (financially) to more SLers.. just for the mere sake of getting a larger attendance.

i was thinking you might do well to make it sometime in early (March-ish) of '07? you could get an extra draw for people who would enjoy getting out of a colder climate into a more temperate one. ;)

all in all, it sounds like an awesome idea! i would love to see more than one yearly SL gathering and having both a "Conference" and an "Expo" to choose from would be a great start. plus, having the additional variable of one (SLCC) that travels about from year to year and another (SLExpo) that is stationary each time around could be a nice facet to explore!

more power to ya! and keep us informed!

and yes, if i could make it (timewise and financially) i would be interested. :D

I might go. I live in L.A. and that's a fun drive. Idunno, it would depend if I could get someone to come along.

If you've got a mailing list, I want on it. Lemme know.

I've been meaning to hit Vegas sometime this year - if it meshes with my schedule, I'd hop a flight out there.

I say 'fuck em'.

If it happens it happens when it happens. I'd rather have something small happening in Vegas than nothing happening at all - hell even if it was a barbeque at lake mead I'd be all for it :P

Coffee will always get you in the door. :D

One thing I would strongly advise in the organization of this event... Please, please, for the love of god, keep in mind Vegas weather when planning.

Vegas is in the Nevada desert. People tend to ignore average Vegas temperatures when visiting because they're inside 24/7, but it is extremely dry and extremely hot in Vegas from around early May to mid October. It is not unusual for summer visitors to have violent nosebleeds due to the extremely arid climate, or for them to dehydrate and pass out. (Combine that dehydration with the consumption of alcohol and you've got the worst hang-over headache you could ever imagine.)

If at all possible, schedule any Vegas events in Spring or Fall (which each last about 2 weeks here, tops) to avoid some people unprepaired for this climate a very, very unpleasant trip.

It may have to be out at the lake if it's held in the Spring. In general, January-May is a busy convention season here in Vegas. Expo space and rooms are usually booked well in advance. If it's something smaller like a banquet hall you're talking about, that may be another story.

Personally I don't see any SL get together being of a size requiring the LV Convention Center or the one at Mandalay Bay.

The EMA awards were comfortably held in the banquet hall of a hotel - as have been work events etc. Judging from videos of the first SLCC, I'd say an equally large (if not larger space) could be made by 2 adjoining rooms at any of the hotels. I know we've done it at the Riviera, Monte Carlo, and our last work event was held at the the Imperial palace and was HUGE.

Actually I think having the NAB or the CES conventions going at the same time would be more of a draw than anything else. Come for one, visit both.
